Toad's Poser/Grouper/Carrara tutorial will work for some people, on most parts of some Poser models, even if they skip the grouper part. Unfortunately toad doesn't show a screenshot of Poser export options or Carrara import options. One other glitch in his method is the eyebrows - pretty much a total failure there, unless you like cracks, shiny spots and blurry, painted-on hair. I did a search of the old messages and the attached link seemed to be able to do the hair, eyes, eyebrows and eyelashes. Maybe if it works for you, you could summarize it into a new tutorial.Where is that Toad's tutorial? Must try everything to try to make it work. And sure, I will share with you all if I can make it work. I'm a little surprised that it actually was no obvious answer to this question. Was guessing alot would line up their posts on this one. I'm new to Carrara and I made switch from Bryce, considered forth and back what new app. to use after its obituary.

See attached link. It's not 100% correct, but it'll get you started. If you want to take the time and search back thru this forum, there are many threads on Poser-to-Carrara transparency. They're all slightly different, often with no examples or screenshots. Various people have planned tutorials that never appeared, except in one case where a guy did one, but apparently it doesn't work due to GI bugs or something - and he deleted the eyebrows IIRC. Otherwise, the various tricks - 2100% enlargement, delete eyeballs, delete eyebrows - are not going to be satisfactory for everyone. Maybe they don't want to write any more tutorials because they're hoping the rumored Poser-to-Carrara plug-in will solve everything for everyone.Snekkis, I've found that it's slightly different depending on which figure you're importing. Working with Michael 2 for example, I did notice the wacky cracks n stuff with the eyebrows. Usually what I do is just set the eyebrow to transparent. Also the eyeball itself needs to be dealt with. With Michael 3 and Vicky 3, I haven't noticed any problems or wackiness in the eyebrow area or with the eyeball. The cast ironflamingo tutorial IIRC does have screenshots for the various transparency settings so that should get you started. That's the same tutorial I used to figure it out. Pay special attention to the settings he uses for the transparency and the opacity maps. The principle is basically the same with or without Grouper. I'm on a Mac so no Grouper for me, but I was able to follow along with the castiron flaming tutorial no prob.

Hi,
I have read some previous threads about eyelashes and eyes. They did not conlcude with a solution, as far as I saw. One said some tutorial was coming up and one mentioned Grouper. I don't understand what the Grouper does in this matter. There is just one group of the eye and the material regions are listed?
I have tried to nest the problem by only exporting the eyes and have even exported new mapped obj's from UV mapper. The more confused I get from not reaching any solution, it just brings me down to think that I don't know anything.
I'm OK with that. I really don't know anything!
Please help?
