THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Makeing Presets

Hi Folks, I have alot of 3ds files that I would like to texture and save as presets. I've only done two so far and have found a slight problem. I get the item texturized and go to Create to add it to the preset catagory I want to store it in. When I do the little picture that is suppose to be the preset is just a blue ground with black sky and no little picture of the preset. When I click on this icon the preset comes up in the main screen like it should. How can I get a little pic of the new preset into the blank icon? I really don't want a couple hundred blank icons to sift through when I want something. Any help you guys can give would be great.

After you add them to the preset library, put your cursor over the little window, click and hold and drag down. You'll see that you can moce the picture around.

This usually happens when the object is too far away from the world center or the object is very small. First , select the object or group and click the little "A" gadget next to the object. In the X and Z Origin fields type 0, click the check mark to exit. Now go to the presets and it should look like a normal preview. If it's now too small, under the little preview window is a popup that will let you select "Up Close" view. If it's still too small you'll need to resize the object in the main window. HTH; Dan

IMO it's better to save the model as a scene file without the ground plane then merge it into a scene that you want to put it in. Lot less likely to get corrupted like the preset files are prone to do.

Thanks Guys, BOOMER got it right though. I put the cursor over the window and moved it and to my surprise the ground plane was upside down. Flipped it over and all is well. That's a good idea Aldaron about the scene files. Alot less hassle. Thanks again to all.
