after getting some major help with the greenbriar plugin i imported this character into lightwave and rendered. it took many minutes to load thanks to the thousands of polygins and hundreds of morphs, but i'm getting there. the cell shader i used was the super cell shader, and i put no time into it at all. i was just playing around. v3 with morphs applies, cell shaded in lightwave 7.5. render time 9 seconds at medium aa.

Nicely done. But you know, a couple of materials and you can do this in Poser 5.

Quite a few people. Just pull up the gallery and select the subcategory of Anime. That's a good start to some quite well done art out there.

I did this in Poser, although I cheated and used a postwork technique I discovered on the 'net. Produces some nice ink lines, though.

The postwork technique I used was actually meant for animations. I applied it to a still-frame image instead. http://members.aol.com/forrestbro/how_cartoon.html Requires some additional setup time, and you have to render the animation twice then combine the two in a nonlinear video editor that supports layers (Premiere, AfterEffects, etc.).

wow! that's some bad ass stuff!! me want more!!

Wow Little_Dragon, that's a lot of setup. We're still looking for a way to do it all in one program (Poser). ^_^ Come real close, but haven't quite hit the mark yet.

Hmm I made this in Poser Pro Pak, with Cartoon-with-lines. Only postwork is the letterings. It all comes down to what light set you use. This is one of the lightsets included with AnimeDoll :o)

right on!!!keep it coming folks! darkskills, that site looks like it has some cool images on it, but i couldn't get any to play but the low res one... and let me tell ya, it was LOW res. but the still images i see there look amazing. any tutorials on that? what program did you use?

DarkSkills ( ) posted Mon, 03 November 2003 at 9:17 PM

Thanks. I'm not sure why the clips wouldn't play...could have been heavy network traffic, maybe? They seem to be playing fine now though. As for a tutorial, I'm currently finishing up one for Vue. As far as the programs go, it's my usual arsenal; characters all done and rendered in PPP, All backgrounds done in Vue. Finally everything composited together in Vegas Video...

what do you think of vegas? i think it looks great, but do you have any gripes?

DarkSkills ( ) posted Tue, 04 November 2003 at 12:54 PM

Vegas is a fantastic app. Very intuitive, much more so than Premier (IMHO). The only "gripe" is that I wish it actually had some sort of particle effects generator or plug-in to simulate explosions, smoke, etc. However, that being said I whole heartedly recommend Vegas.
