Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
If your tablet allows it, you could try switching to Mouse Mode. On Wacoms, it prevents the cursor from instantly relocating to another point on the screen, which might help with Poser and other 3D software (slow your mouse speed down A LOT if you do this though). Having a larger table can also help because it takes more hand movement to move the cursor as well...on a tiny tablet, the slightest movement will send you flying. :) Eventually you do get used to it though; I've been using my Wacom 5x7 since I first got Poser 1 and it's the only thing I use at all now. ;) Take care. Wow, you guys are quick :) wasnt expecting a reply so quickly ..thankx SnowSultan .. what you said about the pen instantly relocating makes sense, unfortunately I have a cheap tablet by genius (wizarden 5x4" which im actually pretty happy with) but it has no mouse mode, however you can set up the nib sensitivity (preumably how much presure before it starts working) .. maybe ive been too light and the thing stops for an instant then tries to relocate instantly ( I like that term :) ). so Ill give it a go with slightly more sensitive setting so the nib stays activated.. thanx a lot.. Best wishes Barrie.
No problem at all, I hope it can be of some help to you all. :) The main problem with using tablets with 3D programs seems to be movement speed, so try adjusting any settings that have to do with cursor or tablet mapping and see if that works. If you have trouble clicking with the pen, fool around with your double-click settings too. It's MUCH easier if you assign a double-click command to a pen button then to try and press twice quickly in Poser's weirdo interface. ;) Thanks! SnowS

I asked Santa for this one!!!Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.
I suspect that you'll find an improvement if you are prepared to remove the Content Paradise room. See PoserPros under General Discussions and/or FreeStuff for instructions. Removing Content Parasite returned near-linearity to mouse movements in P5. Still not as good as P4 but a lot closer. So it may well do same to graphics tablet. Speeds up load time too. Conjecture is that P5 Paratmeter Dial is a separate window to the OS, so much intertask communication is being wasted keeping them in sync. And if IE is linked in to service CP then it gets to stick it's nose in between each intertask communication to further delaying things. Note this solution only affects the dials on the Windows version of P5, OSX can still treat the Parameter Dial panel as part of the main application so it doesn't seem to suffer from the mouse/dial slowness problem. It also reportedly doesn't benefit all versiosn of P5, but certainly does seem to help the early versions that have been patched up to SR3.
Hi .. thanks for the tip about CR it seems to have made poser faster, but hasnt dont much for my non-linearity. Nib sensitivity didnt make any difference either really. If I move the pen very slowly by an inch (say using the trackerball widget) I get a smooth 360 degree rotation, but move the same inch at any speed I get about 10 complete rotations. It just seems like theres a speed limit (a very slow one at that) on my pen, anything above that poser goes wild. I havent found this trouble with any other app, so I guess I'm justified in blaming Poser :) Anyway thanks for all the helps.. Best Wishes Barrie.
Barrie, if you ever figure out how to use it, I'd like to hear about it :o) I have the same tablet as you, great one btw, the price taken into consideration, but it's pretty much unusable in Poser, so I too stick with the mouse for Poser and the pen for Photoshop :o) I'd like to skip the mouse though, so any tips are welcome.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Yes, I removed CP and it didn't make much difference for me. I got bored and removed the hair room as well. Crescent! Do tell! I was under the impression that CP was the only room you could remove and still have Poser running. I never use the Hair room either, so... HOW? Can the Face room be removed as well?

The UI seems to be configured using an XML file, which can be read and edited in wordpad, its all pretty straight forward (the xml file is just formatted english) goto the poserpro website like layingback said. But stop stealing my thread .. :) its about my graphics tablet ... grrrrrr .. lol. just kidding

Hello room. Ive just bought a cheap graphics tablet device, which works well with most apps and its pretty much replaced my mouse, but when I use it with Poser 5 i get weird exponential behaviour.. like I'll be moving a figure and it'll move slowly then jump to really fast .. same for all the other operations.. anyone else had this problem and found a solution ? .. any help most appreciated.
