Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 19 2:30 am)
Did you reinstall Poser with all the patches, including the memory patch if you have more then (I think it's 1GB) of memory. Win2K and Poser usually work fine so it's probably not the OS. Then again, are you sure it's not the images driving Poser into deviant behavior? :-)

Never used W2k, but I believe it's similar to XP. So the first place to look is at your virtual memory page file setting. In XP it's R-Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory Change. You can then select between No page file, System set page file and Custom settings. What to change settings to is a big old subject, and depends on your system configuration, number of drives, RAM size etc. Do a Google search .. there are loads of helpful techie sites out there to guide you. The other thing is that you often get 'Out of Memory' errors when loading multi-part figures where part of the geometry is not where it's supposed to be. When Poser can't find it, it throws a wobbler. Often it's simply an incorrect address within the prop or character file. Again, that's a big old subject, but there are a number of threads here with helpful info. Good luck.
You should be able to run it without messing with the memory in any way, utils or otherwise. I run win2k pro on all my systems except this one, which I recently changed to XP Pro. You should reinstall poser but not in sequence, run the update that came out last, I had a problem with mine in win2k when I installed the updates as they came out. Finally reinstalled and it worked. Exactly which Poser are we talking about here? 4 or 5? Because it does make rather a large difference. If it's 4, I'd get rid of Mem Turbo for a start. I've been running win 2k with poser 4.03 for 3 years now and never had a conflict - other than the usual poser 'features'. Win2k is definitely one of the most stable OSs you can get. But I run the bare minimum of apps on my machine. No junk, no neat little free programs that clog up the system - just the stuff I need to work. If it's poser 5 you're using then it's a whole different can of worms. It could be anything. But I'd still ditch Mem turbo. Because if you're getting a memory error, it seems to indicate some kind of memory conflict - ergo, memory managers are the problem. mac
My guess is that this has nothing to do with memory at all. The "out of memory" is Poser's generic error message, if for instance it can't fint the obj in a character. Have you been moving stuff lately? With or without PBooost? make sure the obj is where Poser expects it to be or that error WILL pop up. It is unrelated to both Windows version and memturbo. It's Poser's way of saying "I've searched and found nothing. Goodbye cruel world"!

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
ack ok I have two hds the one with poser on it has around 20gig left open on it. it is poser 4 with patches done. I have never gotten this message till I upgraded to w2k. I was able to get a render done today with koshini but I have to change the lights then it went somewhat smoothly. I had a very nice global light set on it and it would not do it for nothing. {the same light set I normally do for test renders and have set as my default. as I never had a problem with them befor the upgrade} ernyoka1..I did just move one pose library out and the other one in{I have four different "pose" folders for different sets so to speak like one is nothing but v3 stuff etc etc etc} but I have never had this problem befor. guh this is frustrating. {on the pose folders. I just move one out and one in when installing things that way they go to the pose folder for that charecter}

I can not even get a single figure to render with basic lights befor I get this crazy message of memory. how do I fix this? I never had this problem with w98. and sorry but w2k seems to ..er..suck.
