Really impressed by free Cinema 4D's render engine.. how does Poser 5 compare ? .. I'm a Poser 4 user.

Not too shabby, although I had to adjust the material settings. The polygon smoothing really helps. Thanks Gerald, another fantastic free prop!

I'm such a fan of C4D that I even bought an upgrade... but I couldn't resist adding a reflection node in Poser 5 and rendering. Also adding a ground plane with P5 procedural wooden planks. I know the textures and lighting could do with work, and it would be good if there was more in the scene for the xmas decorations to reflect, but IMO it's not bad for a quick Poser render. Cliff PS cheers for all the goodies m8, past and present

Oops, not a great image - hopefully this one is a bit better :)

Today I found I couldn't resist tweaking aspects I wasn't happy with late last night - so here's the (no postwork) Poser 5 render with changes list: Added Chrismas Room from www.sams3d.com Added extrra material zone to the ball for the "fixer/loop". Added a blue box by Chris Sutor Copied the fixer/loop for use o the blue box's top Fiddled with a few textures (still not delerious about the red used for the bell) Added a scaled-down yellow ball Poser 5 still isn't Cinema4D by any measure - but it's come a long way from Poser 4. Since DAZ Studio looks to be using basically the same renderer as Poser 5, I have to assume that DAZ also reckon the rendering engine to be pretty good - and you should be able to check that out for free soon enough :)

Oh, and I fiddled with the lights and the Poser 5 wood texture. Think that's all...

Poser 5 gets criticised a lot. A good chunk of that is, sadly, fair - but there's a great deal of criticism levelled at the program just because it's more powerful (and therefore more complicated) to use than Poser 4. It would appear, to me, that DAZ will have done well to learn from the problems that Poser 5 has had over the last more-than-a-year, and that DS should hopefulyl fare better. Certainly their intentions for the program LOOK more like "Poser 4.8 done properly". I'm really looking forward to it, and seriously hope I won't be dissapointed ;)
