worked a little bit more on the model, for the fist time in a LONG time iv'e been able to focus on just this. I decided to go w/ duplicating alot of small, low-detail models over and over again, the shot im planning on making is from far away, so it doesnt require alot, when it comes to rendering the final pic, im going to be focusing mainly on the lighting and scale. I would have gone w/ terrains, but after many unsuccesful tries, i realized my terrain editing skills just arent good enough yet. so far the model is around 54,000 polys, which is relativley low, saving times are going to kill me by the time im done though! big thanks to everyone for their input earlier, and thanks for any feedback!

another shot from a little lower, the shot im planning on taking will be far away w/ a little higher elevation, but will give the efect of alot of buildings.

Just a small point......the .mat you are using for the main walls......it's repeating is too obvious....0.02p

Looking great so far! 8) I do agree with The Bryster as to the .mat files repeating being too noticeable. Other than that this is some wonderful work. Wade

Very nice! What's next Minas Morgul?

woodhurst ( ) posted Wed, 12 November 2003 at 9:59 PM

thanks guys, about the texture: it is an image, and the only way I could get it to have the square arch design was to repeat it over and over again set at 'world cubic" when I done w/ the final render, i will probably smudge/burn the textures in the pic to make more of a variety, and the shot will be from far away w/ alot of over-exposed lighting, so im hoping that will help also. Quickp51: I was thinking about that, but i have to get this monster done first!! thanks as always guys.

Good grief man! THat wireframe is insane.. lol. Nice work so far, I know this will become a masterpiece. Can't wait to see the final.

Right right. Are you going to do the whole mountain as well or at least the jetting rock plateau with the citadel? I was planning on doing my own Minas Tirith too but I don't have much time these days. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. Cheers!

You doing great work woodhurst and this just keeps getting better and better. 8) It doesn't matter your latice manipulation skills aren't top notch when you can model so well with Wings. Catlin

Great modelling! I can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished :) I agree with Bryster that the textures on the main walls are ro repetitive.

Amazing architecture ! I want to see the finished picture too !

Humongous project Woodhurst, very impressive. You can do texture manipulation in Photoshop using texture filters and Pattern maker. Its a little more work but you can get some good results. Cant wait either to see the final.
