Couldn't help sharing this here. To my knowledge, I have read every issue of this Magazine (I have the CD Roms, and even bought them before they hit the Bargain Bins. :^) In the interest of keeping anyone from wanting to sue me, I would like to encourage everyone to buy at least two issues this month, to subscribe to the magazine, it will change your life. Not necessarily for the better, but your life WILL change. :^)

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

I used to buy the Mad comics years ago I just loved them and their humour. This is one to have though, it's an excellent image. 8) Catlin

'Mad' was one of my favorite magezines in the youth. I still have and love the old issues, but I don't like the new ones. Nice cover though. J.

SPLAT As A young Norwegian (not THAT long ago... I swear!)... I was real good in pernouncing the American word splat. :) Uhm... Some real culture exchange went on there... for years, I might add. :)

Ahhh... this brings back memories. I used to be a devote to the wise sage Don Martin and the philosophy of Spy vs. Spy. I still have a copy of Don Martin's cartoons somewhere. Great silliness. Goodnight Mr. Fonebone... wherever you are.

ysvry: No, this isn't one of my parodies (I wish), it's a scan of the real cover of the latest issue. There were international versions of Mad...Australia, Japan, England, Germany, France, Italy, and others. Perhaps these versions are now defunct...I hope some are still going. These reprinted translations of some of the articles from the US version, plus some locally produced humor. As far as the art goes, lately some of the quality is patchy, but in its heyday, some of the artists included: Frank Frazetta, Wally Wood, Jack Davis, Harvey Kurtzman, Mort Drucker, Don Martin, Sergio Aragones (who still contributes to each issue) and many others.

Sure, Zhann, I would add the work of R. Crumb to your list, as well. :^)

Hey Zhann, as a matter of fact, I just picked up the newest issue of Heavy Metal yesterday. The art and stories are still awesome. They now include what they call a "tip-in" in some issues which is a glossy 4X6 image done an artist that they may be profiling in the issue. In case you didn't know, they also have a website now. Here is the link to the site.

Oh, yes, Mad Mag, as American as apple pie and Coca Cola without a doubt. Used to love viewing it then after a couple of years, the interest waned. I guess the novelty wore off and other killer mags made the scene which of course Heavy Metal was a favorite also. It's been many years since I've picked up an issue of Mad. Thanks for the memories tjohn and very funny cover as well! Typically Mad!

I used to read other people's MAD's..the actual magazine goes back to the 50's..it was doing poorly until a few years ago, they brought in new management to 'shake things up'..as for HEAVY METAL..used to read it, then got married, and for some unforseen reason (the proto-Vickies at work?..;) my subscription lapsed..;) Liked the first movie when it came out..the 2nd had more plot, but plopped anyway..;)
