http://www.simfreaks.com/ Look at the bone set and the wizard set. The wizard stuff is all from props club. the bone set looks like anidex's stuff. Sorry if I misspelled that. of course they had made antons stuff into sims stuff as well. LOL. Usually they credit the poser artist etc but I didnt see any this time.

I think the bone set is actually Underworld realms from daz :)

They have credit Eric (Traveler) from the Props Club - I didn't look at the others. :) Irene

spudgirl, Thanks for posting this. I already reported this site to DAZ abuse a week ago. I discovered by chance that they had my photo studio up for download + a bunch of other DAZ products. DAZ has already been in contact with them and is taking steps to prevent their own stuff being re-distributed, but I'm not sure about other people's products. I didn't post a warning here because I didn't recognise any other items. It was late at night when I found the site and I didn't go through it all. I guess I should have posted, now that I think about it, but I thought they were just concentrating on DAZ stuff. mac

I think Anton (or was it Jim Burton?) had given them permission for his stuff because the Sim games reduce the meshes so much that they're nearly useless. As for anyone else's stuff, that I don't know about. Hopefully they got permission, but it's possible they mistook one permission for blanket permission. Cheers!

'but it's possible they mistook one permission for blanket permission' Funnily enough, crescent, that's exactly what happened at DAZ. Apparently, some time ago, steve kondris gave them permission to use several DAZ products. But this did NOT include permission to use brokers' products. What really annoyed me was that doing a Google for my name brings up, not DAZ (which it used to do), but SimFreaks, with my product and name heavily advertising their site. I could care less about Sim use of my product. As you say, the meshes are so small, they're hopeless. But to take stuff without permission, then to oust DAZ from search engines with their site, hacks me off. mac PS It's good policy to search for your own name from time to time. It really is amazing what you come up with. And great for detecting scoundrels and scallywags. LOL.

As Crescent mentioned, I have given permission for some of my hair to be used, the mesh has to be optimized to the point that it couldn't really be used in Poser anymore, as the game has a maximum of someting like 6,000 polygons for a head or body (and that is pushing it) . However, this would not always be the case on props, and there are tools to get the mesh back into OBJ format. I've actually done some figures for the Sims, as far as I know these are the only 100% original ones ever seen, so I know a little about the game. ;-)

Hi, I am an object artist at Simfreaks. I am the one who made most of the objects for The Sims that you are referring too. You are so mistaken. You are confusing the skin/sims/people/heads/hair with what I do. The objects (ie: furniture, paintings, etc.) for The Sims are not meshes. They are 2D bitmaps, renders from a 3D program, I have to do major resizing, retexturing, lighting and rendering to get them to the point to where they look good in the game, this is not an easy task. There are no meshes being distributed at all as far as objects go except for an exceptional few that I have meshed myself, those would be considered skin attachments, and when I need one of those, I make it myself (as in some rocking chairs I made and a rocking horse, those are the only mesh attachments that have been distributed with objects and they were mine). I know very well not to distribute any 3D meshes from others or render flat textures from others and I don't. Scally wags don't give credit for anything, scoundrels and scally wags steal and take credit for theirselves. I have worked very hard to make sure the 3D artists get credit for their models and/or textures, even though I am not required to do so according to their licenses. I do this out of respect. Sorry if your mad about the credit to you for your work, we will remove it from the site, that way you won't get pulled up in a search engine from us. 2D renders do not equal mesh. I would never distribute your work or anyone else's work against a license agreement or written permission, not ever! I am an artist too and I totally respect and admire my peers! I can not believe you slandered us publically like this. We bought your models and followed all the agreements. I can promise you that I will never buy another work of yours again.

Attached Link: How Sprites Work

Teresa got this into the wrong thread I believe she was addressing the creator of the Studio from DAZ. I should refer you all to the Plant thread of Anton's. As Teresa said, the things that she and I convert over to The Sims is sprite art, 2D renders in a 3D world. I've typed up a little information page on this process so you all will understand how this works and how our terminology is actually different and often confusing to people in the 3D community. For example the word Object in 3D community means a 3D model, but in The Sims community, it refers to a sprite based furnishing. Please read through this page for a more in depth explanation of sprites and how 3D characters interact in a 2D world. http://www.simfreaks.com/tips/guides/index.shtml Heather Castillo

Thanks heather and teresa. I imagine teresa was posting the info for me. I did read the Sims page already and I think it's a good idea that you put it up, just to explain to people who are wondering what it's all about. Just so you don't think I'm talking about SimFreaks behind your backs, there's a thread currently running at DAZ (link above - click the link twice to get to the thread). It was started a few weeks ago, but I only saw it the other day and posted in it. Anyway, SimFreaks is being discussed, so you may want to read it and add any information you think is appropriate. I've said to you several times, heather, but I'll say it once again. I'm not in any way out to get you or malign your site. I imagine there's a lot of work involved in creating this stuff and I respect that. I just have to look at things from my own point of view as a modeller. But I'm trying to do that as fairly as possible, without running anyone down or starting slanging matches. I did make a few misinformed comments before, and apologised for them, so I hope that any further discussion of Sims can be reasonable and open-minded. I'm not a nasty person, Honest! mac PS Thanks for removing the name!
