Howdy Everyone, Been trying to come up with a card for someone to remind them of Minnesota. I'd like some ideas to banter about. Should I add a Loon or two or leave well 'nuff alone. Let me know if there are any Midwesterners out there who catch my drift.

The lake feels more like Lake superior in a calm bay. Was that the goal? Otherwise I'd suggest an opposite shore, with a thick forest. A loon may be good if you can balance it right. Otherwise the focus on the cattails is nice.

When I was a kid my best friend (folks) had a cabin on Leech Lake. That's who the card is for. Like Superior, It was big enough you couldn't see the other side(s). So an opposite shore didn't cross my mind. I'm working off a 30 some year old memory. If anybody has an .OBP of a loon lay'n around let me know ;) Yes, the cattails and the reflection are the main focus. Thanks for your input.

Nice one, i like the way the water came out

How about a muskrat paddling across in front with his little head peeking out? A common scene here in WI, not sure about MN. Hmmm, guess a Loon would make more sense. :) Pretty image BTW

This is a lovely, serene, and peaceful image Kimpe, I'm sure your friend will love it. 8)

Put a muskie jumping in the lake and you will be in Minnesota.

Nice image. Excellent water you've got going. If you can't find a loon out there, let me know. We have plenty of loons in Jersey that I can send you way.

Because I like to blow $%&# up.

Don't fear the night.  Fear what hunts at night.

LOL @ Boomer, Boomer, you're too much man! Great sense of humor. Now, to the business at hand, this is a beautiful scene Kimpe and yes, I think a loon (not one from Jersey) would go nicely perched on the rock. I'm sure your friends will be thrilled.

I'm from Wisconsin, i guess i kind get what you're going for, but it doesn't look very minnesota. A think a loon would be a great touch, maybe a little more of the cat-tails, and that island or outcropping could be a little less...harsh. From my experience in minnesota (and the midwest in general) there's not so much jagged stuff by bodies of water. VERY good image, though, i love the reflections.

LOL Boomer, I'm not in Jersey so ya can't send me! :P Great pic, love those cattails....and i agree....a big jumpin muskie!

Oh yah dere hey! A bigole mooskie! Yahbetcha! Dat'll give it dat real up nort touch! ;c) (breaking out of Yooperese) ahem... as I was saying... if no opposite shore, maybe giving a bit more depth could help. A boat going out, a loon, a few more rocks or a reed bed. Something to give the depth of field to set off the intimacy of the cattails. Be real cool if you could find a little "waterstrider" to put in the foreground. :c)

How about a flock of birds flying by in the middle distance? That's what I see when I look at it, and no I haven't been drinking. lol 8) Catlin
