Hi! I'm needing help in a project I'm working on, so i thought about asking around here to see if anyone wants to help... credits will be given to anyone whose help is used in the project, but that's about all compensation i can give (sorry, no money here). I'm building this city you see here using Poser and Vue D'Esprit... problem? I have no traffic lights nor "welcome to x city" signs... the ones I like the most are the ones used in grand theft auto... they look pretty easy to model and texture, but as I've never modelled not even a dot, I'd rather have someone already experienced do it.

I'll post the pics as reference... i hope there's no copyright infringement by posting these photos here (if it is, I'll erase them for sure), but remember this is only REFERENCE... the pics belong to Rockstargames, and were taken from their website.

and well, if the shape of those traffic lights and road signs is copyrighted already, then I'd need the next best thing, something similar but different (does that make sense?)

thanks to whoever helps.

Max

this is the reference for the traffic lights... barely visible, but I think the main idea can be understood

and this is the reference for the welcome signs... these pics are of public use though, so i guess that as long as the credits to rockstar is given, it shouldn't be a big deal to post them here. thanks

For the welcome signs, there's a scene on one of the CD's and it has those. I think it was a bridge scene. You'll just need to change the texture to change the sign.

I made this really quick, simple welcome sign a little while ago. I think it looks close enough to the reference pic. Do you want it?

We have a city light you can use...looks just like the one in your picture above. Sharen

PabloS ( ) posted Fri, 21 November 2003 at 6:29 AM

looks like you could make these using cylinders and squares from Poser primatives

kayarnad ( ) posted Fri, 21 November 2003 at 10:27 AM

hey nekketsu, yes, I want it! I'll im you... and as I said, I'm sure I could do these with primitives, but I have squat idea on how to uvmap them and then texture them... I tried once with a TV that was in obj format, and as much as I put work on it, I never could get the texture on the TV, so that's why I asked for help and sharen, I'll go check out your site, but it's probably not a freebie, is it? I'll check out out anyway Max

Go over to 3dCommune and check for Cooler's freestuff. If I'm not mistaken he's made a bunch of streetside type things

kayarnad ( ) posted Fri, 21 November 2003 at 9:41 PM

thanks for the tip on Cooler, I'll go check it out... and sharen, i went to your website, but I couldn't find the traffic light anywhere... maybe it's not there anymore? Max

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sat, 22 November 2003 at 4:02 AM

It is cause it use to be a freebie, now it is in the Freebie archive, but I will send it to you for free if you need it. Sharen
