Ok, so here's the model i been working on now in wings, among with some others...lol (am actually working on a gallery image for the table, and keep making new things to add to the pic...lolol) Vase in 3ds format, unsmoothed, and rendered in bryce... large 100% ambient sphere, sky set to one of those reddish ones, 2 sphere lights to add some glow and reflections...surface wood on slab is the Cherry stain i made for the table.... Pic unAA'd... What's think? look ok? This is in no means meant to be true ambience so ya dun need to worry bout that part...lol just liked how this looked...lol thanks... Jen

The vase is drop dead gorgeous. The wood needs some work (if you are going for realism, that is), but if it's more of a throw away base just to showcase the vase, then you may not care so much about that aspect of the piece.

Could be worse, could be raining.

That vase is gorgeous. I would give it house room any day. Did you use a bump map with your glass map, to get that effect? Tony Lynch has some terrific wood mats for free, using the dte. I got them from 3dcommune, not sure of they are here as well.

thanks *grins* this is the stright from wings screen cap, if anyone's interrested, then i used the crystal glass preset in bryce to make it look like glass....I smoothd it in wings, so it dont' need smoothed in bryce, (which actually get's rid of all those lil points)

Your right Amethyss, I also think that with a light inside and the right settings, it could create some lovely caustics. 8) Catlin

Beautiful vase Jen! You're finding your way around in Wings just fine it appears.:-)

Jen, absolutely beautiful vase! You've outdone yourself, again.

shadowdragonlord ( ) posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 8:37 PM

Aye, the vase is wonderful! Can't wait to see it in a final render. Perhaps try True Ambience on it, just for fun? Or global lighting, HDRI-style?

JC_01 ( ) posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 9:30 PM

thanks everyone for the WONDERFUL comments, can feel my head swelling! lol amethyss and catlin, kewl idea, will have to give it a try when i get time, or you guys can...lol ricky, yea, that mat looks good on rounded things, but kinda odd on flat stuff that up close..lol it's actually a variation of the walnut preset that comes with bryce... danamo, lol i'm slowly learning...still can't do anything as complex as you guys can tho...lol Quest, blushes thanks it was fun to do Shadow, LOL if I knew how, i prolly woulda...lol I just can't figure it out...maybe one of these days, i'll read a how-to on how to do it, for now, am kinda exploring it to see if i can figure it out...lol LOL if i stopped playing around with all these kewl modeling toys, I might actually get that image done i been working on...LOLOL I'm actually trying to get a picture made, that shows the table in a scene, rather then just in neutral background...and for some reason, i feel odd, (cause am selling the table) putting other's free stuff in that picture..so am making all new stuff to go in it.. lol is kinda fun...grins Jen

No, do not stop playing. I am STILL suffering in terms of Gallery images per-month, since Ornlu came back!!! No reason to accept lower quality in terms of posting. WIP's are one thing, but you don't want your mane to grow darker and your forehead to sprout a horn, now, do ya?!?! Experimentation is the key, we are not here to accept things how they were presented to us, but to explore things...
