THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: two questions

Dragonsbld ( ) posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 12:31 PM Ā· edited Sun, 12 January 2025 at 9:34 PM

I'm working on a new image, but this one isn't for my own fun.. (ok it is, sort of) I'm working on a cover for my wife's portfolio for her dog grooming. I'm hunting down dog textures, (already found a bunch at PlanIt3d (Airdale, Rott, etc.)) but i'm searching for morphs for longer haired dogs. Either way, i'd like help to figure out how to make each of the dogs look like their covered in fur, and not just textured. tuts or words here anything to help me out. Thanks, Dragonsbld

Fur brushing in postwork is the answer. Time consuming and you need to render a very large image to do it well. There is a tut out somewhere, together with some free fur brushes. I think possibly on 3dmenagerie, but don't quote me on that. LittleDragon over on the poser forum would be the best one to ask, he has all sorts of links and urls in his brain.

I remembered where there is a fur brushing tutorial. She also has some dog morphs, but for sale, not free. And they are not at all cheap considering.

lol, fabulous, thats exactly what i wanted, i'll have to keep the link. to bad i'm poor at the moment and couldn't afford the models if they were 5bucks each.. thank you very much, you made everything a lot easier.. For now, i'll have to settle for free stuff i find. and i've already got an idea started.. see above. (ignore the words at the moment, the words arn't ready yet) the whole thing is in the wip stage, still much to do, just fishing for suggestions.

Wow that is one good looking Airedale! Is that a morph for the poser 4 dog?

Dragonsbld ( ) posted Mon, 01 December 2003 at 3:41 PM

yeah, morph and texture both came from PlanIt3d. i was so impressed by just that one (not to mention its the only dog in the group that my wife accually would give a hair cut to) that i had to download the rest, and make sure the airdale was right out in the open and easy to see

I played around with the airdale, shortened its nose and legs a bit and came up with this shaggy type mutt. A different tex map and it could become a bearded collie, (with a bit of imagination LOL)

That's great, Chohole, you need to put this playful guy into a scene.

not bad at all, of course, were talking dog groomers(not to mention 90% evil women.. 10% not so evil women) here who are going to be looking at it.. can't exactly fudge the looks on a dog, they would spot it in a heart beat, but i definatly like what you've done Chohole

I know just what you mean, I used to keep Collies, Rough Collies is the actual name. These are the Lassie type. The snobbery that is around because one was not a prime example of her breed. I forget how many times I was asked if she was a cross breed. Poor little love was the runt of the litter, but a more loving, faithful and obediant dog would be hard to find. She won more prizes in obediance competitions than the other one did in breed classes.

i miss my lassie.... thanks now i'm sad.. not really I use to have a collie also, (she got the name lassie cause she wouldn't come to you as a pup, but when the show lassie came on, and timmy yelled "Lassie" at the begining, that pup would come flying) but her coat was thinner (and wirey)the most collies, including her own litter, so i too got asked if she was a full blood or not. of course looking at the parents (who where show dogs)and the rest of the litter it was confusing

Sorry, didn't mean to upset you. Do you have dogs yourself now? We have two little terrors (sorry I mean terriers, border terriers) They certainly need your other halfs attention in the spring, It takes me ages to strip them, well the young one anyway, because he won't stay still long enough. He is not yet 3. Quite often last year he was running around with a lop sided haircut.

You got that wrong, Dragonsbld. In my experience the pets own us. :^)

I have to agree with Dragonsbld, Cats own humans, and everything else as well I fear. My dogs know their place in the hierachy, but having been brought up by the cats they would of course. The young dog tries it on a bit, but Tiggie the older cat soon puts him in his place.
