THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Demographics/Sociographics (regarding yesterdays thread with personal photos).

bazze ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 4:01 AM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 12:55 AM

Yesterdays thread with the personal photos got me thinking. I mean this is a huge community but who populates it? Is there any demographic/sociagraphic data available? - nationalities? - age / sex? - profession? - social status? - etc etc Sometimes I wonder how poeple have the time to do all these wonderful things you see in the galleries and at the same time maintain a social life (you know family and friends in the real wordl :)), have a job, have other hobbies etc etc.. Not very Bryce specific question but anyway...

You mean, it's not get up, go to work, come home, do bryce, go to sleep, repeat until you die? Seems to me, this forum is populated by people from ALL walks of life who found a way to express themselves through art. A commonality...we all chose Bryce. But why? Was it because we all wanted to make cool terrains at first and it just evolved? Hmm..that's something to ponder.

Because I like to blow $%&# up.

Gog ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 5:38 AM

I think Boomers hit the reason why we're here and the demographic, as to why bryce? I saw someone's art (believe it or not Peter Sharpes) and the Bryce program (version 2) and thought I want some of that, it beats POVRay. That's I been hooked since, tried loads of other packages, the only other one I've kept going is Max.

I asked "who" (demographic / socigraphic data ) not "why you use Bryce". The question is more to those running this community and it is business / marketing oriented. I'm just curious.

Hi all, American, Love the freedom but I'm very cynical of the government at the moment (ok always). 41 sexless (at the moment) single (sort of, husband lives with his girlfriend but I'm not divorced [yet]) I do clerk work, two jobs, no social life (hence sexless) Is there such a thing as social status in America? etc etc oh and I live in upstate NY, yeah the other NY. Nice meeting you all.

ocddoug ( ) posted Thu, 04 December 2003 at 4:31 PM

LOL..social life, never heard of one. Bryce has BEEN my social life for the last 3 to 4 years. I'm single, and have no kids (unless you include my cat), so I have too much time to Bryce and wait on the long renders.

I am single. I was married for a couple years back in the mid seventies when I lived in Columbus, Ohio. I am 48 and reside in Apache Junction, Az with my elderly father and my neice when she is home from indoctrination at the Hyles Anderson School.(Can ya tell I have a general distaste for "religious" institutions.) I have spent most of my life doing factory work. Early on when I lived in Columbus I worked as a draftsman doing concrete formwork designs. The Epcot Center and monorail at Disney World being a few. Later I moved to Colorado Springs, Co. and did rebar detailing for a concrete company there. Now I am trying to learn enough about modeling to get by doing that. My hobbies are searching for lost mines and buried treasure. Recreational gold mining and making mining equipment. Guitar playing and building electronic effects pedals and dreaming about vintage tube amplifiers. Amateur Astronomy and collecting parts to build my own telescope. Collecting and shooting firearms. My favorite a repro Confederate Navy 1851 black powder revolver. There now you all know more about me than the government does.

Partially answered in the graphics thread, but ... Female 51 Single Used to be an immunologist, now I'm an attorney No social life to speak of (too much time spent on work and hobbies) Hobbies include: my computers (building them) and computer graphics, my cats (seven of them to which I am allergic ... long story), photography, quilting, the stock market (I'm a wannabe day-trader), anything Disney, movies, and very long road trips (in my camper van). Born in New Mexico, raised in New Mexico and California. Addicted to sopapillas (not the type with cinnamon and sugar) which I can't get here. And, really that's more than most people on the face of the earth know about me. Probably more than any of you will ever care to know.

Could be worse, could be raining.

social life? I don't like people enough to have a social life. The feeling's usually mutual :)

I LOVE animals. Worked in a pet store while in college and collected an interesting array of critters. Down to only 1 cat and 2 dogs now though.

Hobbies tend to change but they typically involve something creative. I often have reading sprints where I read 6 books at one time and just keep starting new ones until there's nothing left to read.

Went to Pharmacy school but it's not what I'm doing as a career.

Oh, and I'm mostly German and English with a few dashes of Russian, Polish, and Scottish thrown in the gene pool. And some other ethnicities we have yet to figure out how they got into the family, LOL. I'm your typical American mongrel. :)

Ummm...and I love to laugh.
