You need to create your magnet for the hip and then select the magnet and go to properties. Once there you will see a drop down box. Click on it and select the body part, in this case the left thigh and then ok. If you check the parameters for the left thigh you will see that the magnet is now displayed as a parameter. From here all you need to do is adjust the mag zone and move the magnet to create the deformation. You need to spawn the morph for both the hip and the left thigh to save it for both body parts. The quick answer is to look at the properties of the Magnet (not the base or zone) the button is labelled
"Add element to deform".

"Add element to deform". <---(for the "Mag" prop) Yup, Cascade has it ! That's what you need to do to affect both the Hip and Thigh at the same time with a single magnet. I don't like magnets ... I LUV magnets!!! ;=] cheers, dr geep ;=]

Hi Gareee, I'm sorry that you are unable to get the mags to do what you want. They are quite tricky and difficult to use for what you are trying to do ... but not impossible. Perhaps, a couple of tips ... Locate the Base inside of the area you are trying to "pull." Rotate the Base so that it is perpendicular to the area you want to move. Adjust the Zone (scale x,y,and z -and= location x, y, and zTran) so that it covers the area (i.e., polygons) that you want to affect. Change the Zone to Wireframe display mode if necessary to see what area will be affected. You may, also, need to adjust the Zone's "falloff" (i.e., graph) so that the "pull" is distributed inside the Zone properly. Now, use the Mag's yTran to "pull" the affected area into the desired location ... (Gosh, this is difficult when you have to use words instead of pics - but without the model in front of me on my screen, I can only surmise what you have.) Remember that you can "twist" the area, also, by using x, y, and zRotate of the Magnet. Sometimes, a little goes a long way so make changes slowly and carefully and one at a time. If a change goes in the wrong direction, use the "Undo" to go back to the previous condition. I hope this will help you. I can understand your frustration ... Dr Geep has "been there-done that" many, many times. cheers, (?) dr geep ;=] BTW - That 3D "star" is very impressive and your pic is excellent! BTW#2 - re: " ... I did take a break from it for a while, ... " This is not easy to do when things are not going the way you want ... "If I can just try ONE MORE THING ... " But, very often, walking away for a while gives you a fresh perspective when you return and ... sometimes, the solution drops right into place after a break. Just a thought ... ;=]

Yep.. took a break, and am back at it yet again.. I wanted the props to remain in the character folder, and was following a lead someone else gave me... I lost both props in poser, and had to reload them both, re texture them in the material room, and am trying to make them the way I want... I want the wand, in the character's folder, smartpropped to the right hand, and I want the glow to be smart propped to the hand. Poser, OTOH, does not seem to agree... I might revisit the mags again, but I think I recreated them about 8 times, re positioned them, and screwed up again and again. I did NOT however try to have the base perpendicular, so might give it a shot or two more... It actually seems easier to make the morphs in lightwave, and import them one by one. If you can save the dress with the multiple magnet morphs, spanning different body parts of the dress, can you do the same with multiple clothes morphs loaded as well?

Hi Gareee, Sure, why not. I think I would do it this way ... 1. Use Magnet(s) to make Morph(s) 2. Spawn Morph Target(s) 3. Delete the Magnet(s) 4. Set the Morph(s) to 1.000 5. Create a Full Body Morph cheers, dr geep ;=]

yeah.. the morphs I want to make are for extreme limb bends, like a front leg rotated 90 degrees forward. I get tear through then... I've got a set of morphs already made in lightwave, but heard the magnets were pretty easy, and the way to go.. maybe if you don't have lightwave.. LOL!

PhilC recommended I use magnets to create some morphs for my tink dress... I am learning them quickly, but can't seem to figure out how to actuall affect more then one area at a time. I need to affect both the hip and left thigh parts of the dress at the same time..wasn't there a Dr. Geep tutorial about something like this?
