Subject: Who Says Guys Don't Play with Barbie Dolls??!?!?

biggert ( ) posted Fri, 19 December 2003 at 9:07 PM · edited Wed, 08 January 2025 at 4:46 PM

hi guys! i just had to post this.....you know when we were little kids and our parents always told us not to play with girls dolls? also remember when your pal would call you names when they found out you played with girls toys? well....guys.......now that we're all grown up, now is our time to play with dolls......but instead of actual girl dolls, we got out Poser babes to play with!! we can dress them, lift up their skirts, put make up on them, perform plastic surgery on em, play breast surgeon and perform some of our own patented breast implantology techniques, we can make em talk (MIMIC at DAZ), we can talk to them (well, if your lonely like i am)....hell man, now we're all grown men we do what little girls do to their dolls!!----well, pretty much.... hmmm....that's kinda weird.....it just dawned on me how similar we now act like little girls all giddy with their new Dollies.......remember when you got your new Vicky figure? you're all giddy n stuff? just like a little girlie who got a new dollie for christmas? and plus, we gotta admit that we play with the girl dolls (Vicky et al) A LOT MORE than the guy dolls (FREAK!).... hmm..... =)

Hmm, not so sure. Of the 40 pics in my gallery, a male figure is either the main character or has equal billing with the female. In fact, my next two planned images are based around male characters, too.

Ya know when I tried to explain to the guys at work how I make the pictures on my computer I ended uptelling them it was like playing with a big electronic Barbie doll set.

Yup, I play with dolls. A lot more than my 2 daughters ever did :o) The younger one (12) just dumped all her Barbies and stuff in a bag and put them outside her door in the hall the other day. I grinned to myself and thought - oh man, if she only knew what her Dad plays with - a good thing she doesn't! :] Fish

hehe i agree, and i've always thought of that analogy!! Doesn't bother me since i collect Dolls, Barbies & Bratz (& yep, i'm an adult) I think V3 is the new barbie doll, she certainly has more clothes and stuff than i do, same goes for Barbie & my Bratz.. LOL goes back to admiring my 67 bratz dolls on my shelves... hehe.. awwwww preeeeetty!!..=thinks= hmmm i want more!!

Boys play with dolls too. Long ago there was G.I. Joe and Capt. Action. These days there are hundreds of dolls, from Star Trek, Star Wars to Gundams and Transformers. Poser is more than a virtual toy to many users. It is a tool.

biggert ( ) posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 9:33 AM

man, i remember my first project was trying to lift up possette's miniskirt using those magnet thingies....hmm i bet Miss Possey didnt like that very much!! =) [just a peek at how guys think]

pizzone ( ) posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 10:26 AM

That's exactly it!!! Guys ever wanted to play with dolls and really hated those damn little soldiers and stupid little cars!!! They were told to do that (by the way, who mocked you did it only out of envy), but now they're grown up and, at last, they can have real fun. I'm not going too deep into this fact. I just wanted You to know I was thinking about writing an article with the same title of your post, and I was really pleased to find it in the forum. By the way, I'm what You, Yankees, could call a "shrink", but a shrink who likes to play with dolls in Poser (during his spare-time, of course). Before I'm struck off the psychiatrists's roll, Merry Christmas!! Alberto

You know what's really weird, is two or more adult heterosexual men, Poser artists, discussing which hair style looks best and which miniskirt accentuates a woman's posterior best. Can you imagine some guys at a bar, around a pool table, discussing the latest hairstyles of women and how hard it is to find a pair of jeans that fits Vicky. I don't even think a therapist would understand.

The Days of Perky Pat... I have never found anything interesting written about this Philip K Dick story even though we have the SIMS and Poser and the Lofters and the Bachelorette? It was a story writen about forty years ago about Martian colonists living in dreary holes in the ground taking drugs and playing with what are basically Ken and Barbie Dolls and the earthside economy that develops making models for the dolls accesories and the cult that develops on Mars based on the belief of the doll reality being more authetic than the human reality... He wrote another book about a man named Palmer Alderage with metal teeth who dominates the drug trade connected with the doll cult but I can not remeber the title.

Guilty as charged!! I've always wondered why Mattel never released a Barbie aimed at adult males. Also, when I go to the doctor or the dentist, I always grab the "women's" magazines like Vogue, People, or Cosmopolitan to look at the pictures and ads. I suppose I could subscribe to them for my wife.

Momodot, I think it was called "The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch". IIRC, most of PKD's stories were concerned with drugs and/or mental illness. Apart, of course, "Do Androids Dream Of Electronic Sheep?".

Yeah, that's right on the Dick book. The first Barbie was a Lulu Doll sold in Germany aquired by the fonder of the current Barbie empire... it had blue eye shadow and ruby lips and was pretty lavascious looking and was sold at tabaco shops to men as a bachelor party type gag gift or salascious-type mantle piece sculpture or something... there was a whole market of men's cermic nude scultures now sold as colectables catalogued as "nudies" but Lulu was plastic or composit and jointed I believe. When Barbie hit the market Americans were horrified by the idea of dolls of grown women (and with breasts!) being sold to children.

FishNose ( ) posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 3:16 PM

Yes, those original German dolls - oooooooo I wish I had one DROOOooooOOOOOLLL - not only for the doll itself, but can you IMAGINE the value of it????? There are very few of them around..... I'm lucky - with a wife and 2 daughters who all love dolls, if we go on a trip someplace and (like recently) we see a gorgeous carved Swiss wooden doll (in the style of a classic porcelain doll but perfectly hand-carved wood!!!) with beautiful curly real blonde hair and pretty pink cotton frock and she costs an absolute fortune, nobody objects if I suggest we buy her lol..... lucky me. Everyone just nods eagerly and you takes out yer wallet... and she's ours. And I'm male and 47. :] Fish nutty collector

laughs I played with Barbies when I was a kid. I still buy the occasional Barbie. Of course, when I had Barbie, she was always a secret agent or a fantasy hero or something like that, but it was still Barbie, She-Ra dolls, my little ponies... And then people wonder why I'm gay. ;) And Naka, Mattel has. There's a whole line of collectable Barbies aimed specifically at adults. Not nessisarily at adult males, but certainly at adults. And lets not forget Barbie's chest. Everyone always bitches about her boobs being too big... It's not the boobs! It's the torso behind them! She's a frickin' He-Man, unless you're looking at the newer, more realistic body sculpt.

hehehe... YAY BARBIE!!!!!... I have over 900 of them, some from the 60's love that retro look, some from when i was kid (1980's) but mostly they are collectables from the 90's onwards.... Its probably why i was so excited about Poser.. LOL As khrys said theres a massive line that is purley aimed at adults, they are more detailed and have a pricetag to match! I know many many male collectors. I am female however, and my nick-name used to be 'Goth Barbie' so.. haha. i was happy... LOL I think its cuz i am a goth and one of the rare ones with very very long blonde hair!! Happy Playing with Dollz to everyone!! -SimderZ- xXx

One day, when I was about six, I started playing with my babysitter's granddaugter's barbie dolls. The next day, my parents brought me over to a toy shop and bought me a GI Joe doll (back when they were the 12" tall dolls). Well, anyway, now I play with my own psoer virtual barbies. Though, every once in awhile I'll see a barbie doll or a woman who looks like a barbie that catches my attention. Oh and of goth barbies, I'm really tempted to get this one: http://www.begoths.com/HTML/Products/storm.htm and this one: http://www.begoths.com/HTML/Products/casualstorm.htm (and no I don't own any barbies)
