They fired all the people who might be able to help with support or bug fixes. Giving money to lawyers is only pouring good money after bad (mabey bad after bad?). I figure that MC goes by the "Golden Rule" so I will treat them as they treat me, no support, no usage or promotion of MetaStream. That's the key. The graphics community at large is the one to impliment & therefore promote their product (talk about biteing the hand that feeds you!). If they (us) don't choose to use their product for our websites and Metastream goes nowhere then whose fault is that? Better to get several web-publishers & agencies together and have them ask the Chairman of the Board at MC if they plan on supporting Metastream as well as they supported their here-to-for flagship app, Carrara. The answer (in actions) will determin acceptance.
The thing that bothers me is that the products they will not sell, Infini-D and RDS 5.5, that were upgraded in Carrara, are also not being supported. Most companies, even when they alter their product line, will still keep an FTP site with the updates and add-ons to their older products available. There was no reason for removing the updates to RDS and Infini-D from their servers. When you try to contact the company, you get a form letter. BTW, in my form-letter response, the nincompoop on the other end at MetaCreations misspelled Infini-D...he called it Infinity D. What's funny about this is that my original email contained the correct spelling. He didn't even read it. My hope is that selling off all of their products to build and support vaporware turns out to be the worst decision they've ever made. May they go belly-up in the most quick and efficient way possible.

I am truely fed up with the lack of support Metacreations is giving to Carrara. If they have sold the product to another company, then they should make it obvious to whom, so that we can look to them for product support. If they want to keep their deal a secret for a while, that's fine, providing they continue to offer support until the deal is made public. It's almost as if Metacreations has abandoned Carrara. Well, I have a problem with that attitude. I paid a lot of money for Carrara, support is part of the deal, it's in the manual! In my country, that is a breach of contract. I wonder how Metacreations would respond if a lot of irrate customers started demanding their money back? We could then go and buy a product that works (and is supported). At the least, it might be a good idea if the Carrara community were to write to Metacreations Head Office, and demand resumption of support for Carrara. I don't know if a single letter from ClintH (for example) supported by the community would be best, or a flood of identical individual letters. If they still don't respond then maybe it's time to set the dogs (lawyers) on them. Does anyone else feel the same way I do? IsaacNewton
