Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
Does the program error show up with openGL disabled? Or only if you ignore the initial message?
Hmm.. do you mean by this? Screenshot: ----------- http://www.geocities.com/chuawenching/vueerror.jpg I did click yes and no, but i still face the same problems. It is very unstable. Thanks for the reply. Is there any place i can configure it and solve the problem. Can i ask vue 4 to depends on directx9? Thanks.
Vue doesn't work with all graphics cards; that's a problem inherent in the program. Try to disable the OpenGL, then close Vue, and open it again and see if you have the problem with it crashing on you.
Your error message is due to the rather short list the E-on has included in VPro, ignore. VUE works with all recent graphics cards (e.a. graphics cards made in the last 5-10 years,) the problem is that VUE has it's own ideas how OpenGL should be implemented. Disabling OpenGL usually solves the problem, there's a thread in the backroom about card&driver combo's that may or may not work with VUE & OpenGL.
I had tried to uncheck the Enable Opengl. Well, it works okay but it is very very slow. i cannot do multi tasking. Once i do many things at a time, this error always appear. http://www.geocities.com/chuawenching/vueshutdown.JPG I only had 256MB DDR-400. Is it because insufficient memory? My hard disk left 1.8GB left. Is there any other options that i need to disabled to make my Vue 4 Professional work faster? Thanks.
Vue doesn't allow you to multitask, at least on most systems. For example, I have 1G Athlon, 1G ddram, W2K Pro, runs like a champ, but when I am using Vue, I can't do any other tasks. As I recall from other threads here, Vue is a bit of a processor hog. So it doesn't surprise me if you can't do multi-tasking. With this in mind, ensure your Opengl is disabled, and don't try to do any other tasks while Vue is open, especially if it is rendering a scene. Put stuff in layers, group them, and that should help keep you moving along. 256MB seems low to me for Vue 4 Pro, I believe the recommendations are for 1G of memory, although it ran ok for me on 512M. The system requirements are on page 21 of the Vue Pro manual. so you might think about upgrading your memory too. Hope this helps.
...check page 270 of the Vue Pro manual; there is a long list and explanation of options there, so you can try to fine-tune your Pro to work better.
Well okay. I just knew that Vue consume memory a lot. Does opengl makes any difference and without opengl enabled in vue 4? I think the most i will update to 768MB DDR-400. I only had 2memory slots and i do not want to waste my 256MB RAM. But you say i cannot multitask, then what if i want to learn vue 4 with some tutorials, then how? With your computer specs, had you ever seen the shutdown problem? Is it common to your machine too? Thanks.
Your amount RAM isn't the problem. 256 Mb of RAM works fine for me. It IS slow, and I can't multi-task. But as Djeser said, that's normal. In addition to what the others have suggested you might want to clear out some more hard drive space. Since your don't have much RAM Vue will rely on your hard drive a lot more. This is one reason for the slowness. Run a good RAM diagnostic to make sure all of your memory is working right. A good portion of the errors people have reported when running Vue 4 Pro have been traced to bad memory locations in high memory that aren't usually used by other programs.

You can go to the attached link and download a free utility that you put on a floppy and test your memory. Be sure and get right one either for Windows 98 or 2000/XP. Copy the files to a floppy and reboot computer with floppy in A drive and it will run the test. :o)ïÏøçö

Hi there, I had ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Ultra 128MB. When i open Vue Professional, it show me a dialog box stating "vue professional cannot recognized the card i am using" So i ignore it or disable opengl. After playing a while with vue professional, it automatically shut down or display a red cross error, and need to shut down. Why? Any idea? Thanks.
