Subject: DS mac version delayed

Robert whisenant just posted this at DAZ 'Mac folks. WE HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN YOU. We've spent the entire day (slowing the PC release, no less) chasing a bug on the Mac build, (and for you skeptical folks, Cris Palomino -one of your fellow Mac enthusiasts- has been visiting the last few days and can verify this for you). Unfortunately there are some incompatibilities between builds on OSX 10.2 and OSX 10.3 that need to be resolved still. Over the holiday we will be doing all we can to eliminate that bug... ' I don't use a mac (despite my name), but I thought you folks should know. No point in you dying of suspense, is there? mac

Panther uses a totally new file structure which Apple neglected to inform developers of. A number of progs developed for Jaguar won't work in Panther.

Eh, they coulda just released a 10.2 version. shrug Actually it woulda been cool if they had mentioned earlier that day that there waas a problem and the Mac version might not be released. At least that way I wouldn't have gotten my hopes up and been disappointed. But oh well. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. No biggie I guess.

I say dump the 10.2 Jaguar version and go with 10.3 Panther. Panther is so much better than Jaguar anyway.

Delayed for a very good reason... There are 3 different MacPython builds out there at python.org. Only one works with OS10.2 AND D|Studio 0.8.15. It took me three hours of combinations of install/un-install/restart/shutdowns before I could reproduce it and upload the bug test to DAZ with the answer you seek. -scara

"Panther is so much better than Jaguar anyway" Bah - I'm holding out until 10.3 is stable... no need to pay $100 just to be someone's test-monkey. :p (I have a G4 Cube that has been hardware-modded all to Hell.) /P
