Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 1:16 pm)
I remember the gingerbread tut... vaguely. Meanwhile, I did nab PhilC's mesh, figuring that I could bring it into Carrara someday and create some females which wouldn't look quite so much like the current "standard of beauty". I wish that he'd do a male too. (I've drawn vikings and knights for decades and they are too different from the wimps and the football freaks sold now... so I'll have to do my own.) A good tutorial on poserizing the resultant mesh might get me to pushing those vertices into position. Carolly
Figure out which Poser figure matches closest to PhilC's mesh. Scale PhilC's mesh to match as close as possible and save as OBJ. Use the Poser Grouping Tool, UVMapper, or your favorite modelling program to slice it up to match the Poser figure, then save again. Put the new OBJ into the Poser Geometries folder and edit the Cr2 for the matching Poser figure to point at the new OBJ. You will probably have to do some joint tweaking, but it would probably work fairly well.

Attached Link: Poserize and Boning a 3d mesh for use in Poser
Yeah, I've had collected several links and such, including the Gingerbread Man tuto and posted it over at the Modelers/Wings3D forum some time ago. If you want to have a look, click on the above link. At some point someone asked, if it would be useful to have such a tutorial and after he saw how many of them already exist, he decided to not do another one. Thanks for the links Bryde.
One can never have too much information, no?
Dr Geep decided to do a tut on making a posable Figure because ...
... it's fun!
(and it only requires Poser)
And, there's NO BONES about that. ;=]

If you have her and want to make her into a character, post to, or bookmark this thread. Maybe we can get geep to create a primer for her. It's a lot of work to create the primer, so the more people interested, the better the chances are he will do it for us. Even if you don't have Phils Mesh (it's for sale on his site), you can still learn how to make a poseable character. Maybe geep will read this thread and be 'motivated' ;-) BillyGoat
