Everyone, I have been asked to resign as a moderator at Renderosity for reasons I may not discuss. It has been very educational being the moderator here for the last few years, and I hope my replacements treat everyone well. If anyone needs to contact me or ask any poser related questions I can be found as a moderator of the Poser forum at Rendervisions.com, through my gallery at Graphics.com or my website As Always Lyrra the Ex-Evil Overlord

You've contributed a lot to this community, and I thank you for being a moderator and a educator at Renderosity. I can't say I hate to see you go, but I will see you at Rendervisions, where the atmosphere is a bit friendlier to us "weird folks" :o) JV

"I have been asked to resign..." Seems very odd; I thought you did a great job. Thanks for the fine service and best of luck to you.

randym77 ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:03 PM

Sheesh. Rosity just can't stop shooting themselves in the foot, can they? They've lost a gem in you, Lyrra. And it's definitely their loss.

BluesPadawan ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:06 PM

The last few times anything like this happened was due to conflict of interest, or acting as a moderator on another site. Regardless of what the circumstances, you will be missed. Good luck!

FlyByNight ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:13 PM

Good luck to you, Lyrra. I, too, thought you were a most excellent moderator. Will be seeing you at Rendervisions!!!

Too bad. You really were a great moderator. Good luck, and I guess now I have to go find out what Rendervisions is. See you there. -Alfonso

Lucy_Fur ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:23 PM

She's ours now!! cackles evilly, throws Lyrra over her shoulder and makes for the hills towards Rendervisions

Really tho - a damned shame overall. I always felt Lyrra had quite the level head and even hand when dealing with this rabidly enthusiastic roiling forum. A very difficult thing to do what with the constantly shifting, open-to-interpretation TOS and mass amounts of strong personalities in the Poser community. ;) I don't know what goes on or went on behind the scenes, but I think RO has lost a valuable asset.

caulbox ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:41 PM

I don't understand either. I always thought you were very fair and impartial, and excellent at your job.

Riddokun ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:42 PM

well i don't look/read each and every post here and there, but i cannot recall of any major failure/mistake of Lyrra as a moderator... (now for rosity itself which had made some bad moves recently here and there, it is another matter...) i hope lyrra is not a scapegoat... BTW>, Lyrra, i hope we still can hear from you here as a member and contributor anyway; i specially liked your huge work on mayadude (and am making a few picturezs here with him for my personnal use.. not placed in the gallery i guess) see you we lost caleb, we lost lyrra... what is left ? who is next ?

Hellmark ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 6:46 PM

I think the PTB are being very asinine in their replacing their good mods with people that can't hack it. From what I've seen lately, the new guys are being too nice and are getting pushed around. And on some of them, if they don't like what they are hearing (no matter how bad) they just lock things up (Ie, the magazine thread). Oh well, things are going to hell in a handbasket, and they don't seem to care (until they realize it hurts their profits). BTW, for the admins that are clueless and have been arguing with me on the state of things, why is one of the most popular terms being used by different circles for R'osity "Rectumosity"?

Bummer - Qulastima! Skimming thru your recent posts here, your behavior is exemplary. I hope it wasn't involving that texture copyright controversy. Probably couldn't have been, since this step would have no ameliorating effect on the outcome (if any). It's a learning curve with sites like these. You gotta mind your Ps and Qs, make sure everything you say is politically correct, unactionable. It's hard to be calm and dispassionate sometimes, goes against human nature. Well, happy new year anyway - feliz a nuevo!

STORM3 ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 8:07 PM

Well you are in good company (Ironbear etc. and all those mods and admins of high caliber that have resigned or been pushed!). Wear it as an honor. If I were in the hiring business and looking for intergrity and ability, ex-Renderosity mods would be at the top of the list.0) with nobs on!!!! Why do I keep thinking of Stalin's political purges of the early decades of the 20th century when I see posts like this??? These thoughts are becoming too frequent for comfort, I really must ask a shrink about this strange mental association. Am I hallucinating, or is it just an awakening???? BIG 00::)) BTW Happy New Year. Regards STORM

Best wishes, Lyrra - you had a very hard job to do here, and you did it well. You faced some very tough choices and tried very hard to be fair, but decisive. I admired that. Your moderation will be missed here.

Hey....go easy Lyrra :) Your humor will be missed (yes...I actually saw the humor in your efforts to "tame the wilde beaste"!!) Seems like there is always some goofy damned thing here. And as for the person/people who asked you to resign, all I can say is..........Fuck 'em! :)

sargebear ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 9:21 PM

warnings? or censorship? loss of freedom of expression, and Freedom of choice and speech as well? so this means Big Brother is watching YOU. ya;ll be careful what you say and how you say it, you don't want to hurt the people who run this place feelings or else you could be Ban from here as well.

STORM3 ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 9:34 PM

Hi Thomas
Congrats on your elevation/appointment to the "Co-Ordinator team".
I genuinely wish you the best of luck with it.

It is sad that in one of your first acts as a "Team Member" you should have to interpose in the controversy surrounding the removal of one of your colleagues and issue a warning about attacks on the PTB. Even sadder that this should come in the early hours of 2004.
However, I see no real substance to "NO more Renderosity Site, Admin, or PTB bashing."
"Fair Comment, "democratically held ideas" and "differing opinions" have always been respected, held in high esteem and encouraged on this "Artists Site" and have long been accepted by the PTB as part of the normal flow of argument and diversity of Renderosity. Perhaps these long-revered standards about normal forum discussion have recently changed?
Personally I don't see any "Bashing" going on yet, some ribald and colorful comment perhaps, but nothing against the TOS. But maybe others see this differently?

Best regards
STORM

FlyByNight ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 10:04 PM

I agree with you, Storm, I didn't read much in the way of bashing or going against the TOS. Kind of ticked me off to be told what one can or cannot say. Seems that "normal" may only be what we are "allowed" to say. I think my time here is nearly done.

Moderating, like editing, is a highly situational field. I feel you did your best but, as a former journalist and as one who teaches journalism and writing, I realize that "job safety" is an oximoron. May you fare well, where ever you may fare.

STORM3 ( ) posted Wed, 31 December 2003 at 10:38 PM

As another former Staff Journalist (Irish Press Group and subsequently The Sunday Times (UK/Dublin Office) for many years) I read that as fair comment, maybe not what the PTB want to hear, but nevertheless, fair comment.
But perhaps we have different Editorial Standards!
But we can agree to differ.;0)
