I am just wondering does anyone know if the other Poser Forum is down? (PFO)

From my understanding it is no longer

It mysteriously disappeared about a month ago. For awhile when I tried to access it, I got a message from their hosting service saying that theaccount had been suspended, but now all you get is a "page not found" error. Anyone know exqactly what happened?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe PFO shut down for good. Due to lack of participation, sells, etc. Also Anyone know what happen to Big-i ?

Roselind ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 3:18 AM

I miss all the wonderful people there, it's a shame. At least now I know it's a shared page not found and wasn't my computer refusing to go there or something wierd. Thanks for telling me :)

We had a couple of things for sale at PFO and when I emailed to have them removed several months later I got a response from Willow. At the time she was apparently offline, broke and I do believe homeless. The site went down due to non-payment as far as I know.

Getting back to the subject, Sixus! your news on Willow sounds dreadful. I'm really sorry to hear that she's in such a bad way. Grey used to sound off from time to time I know, but that was just another facet of our community. We still owe a great deal to them. Very sad news.....

EdW ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 4:20 PM

The last I heard was Ian was in back in Livermore working on the family ranch. I live in Livermore and haven't run into him so he must be laying pretty low. Willow was still in Washington, had lost her job and was looking at moving closer to Seattle. I made a couple of small little V3 conforming things for her so she could finish a paid project... My impression was this was the only income she had coming in. This was like 3 or 4 months ago... Ed

saxon ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 5:01 PM

Hi Ed! Good to hear from you. I confess to being ignorant about America but presumably you've got state benefits, income support and other safety-nets over there? Lets hope all's OK and that she gets it back together again...

EdW ( ) posted Sun, 04 January 2004 at 5:47 PM

Hey saxon... LTNT... didn't know you where still around. yeah I hope she gets things straightened out... and yes some things are better left in the past. Ed

Saxon says "Hi Ed! Good to hear from you. I confess to being ignorant about America but presumably you've got state benefits, income support and other safety-nets over there?" NO..there are NO benefits in the US for the downtroddin... its make it yourself or get run and trampled over... If you're self employed, and have no savings, you're screwed...plain and simple. Most states have what is called, welfare, right to work , or some such, which basically gives folks the right to work for $5/hour and/or make just enough not to qualify for other benefits... Sorry about that, but I can't helpo myself when it comes to seeing good people getting totally screwed by our government.

Grief! That's shocking. So you really could lose your job and then lose everything else soon after. Frightening...

Roselind ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 1:40 AM

Thats an awful system, they feed the starving and hungry in other countries but not thier own? Shocked. Poor Willow :(

Dave-So ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 7:36 AM

Not to dwell on this part, aside from PFO, but it makes a lot of people here very angry that we're willing to spend billions on war, but not barely a dime on our own folks that are having problems.... but you see, there's no maney to be made by feeding the hungrey in this country.

It is really sad to lose another resource. Let's hope Willow finds her way to work and being able to get on her feet again. And, thank you, Nance, for those links.

Scarab ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 11:12 PM

Uh...Dave-so...how many people actually starve to death in this country? We spend billions and billions on free care clinics, shelters, free food..... S.

Dave-So ( ) posted Tue, 06 January 2004 at 11:20 PM

dumpster diving is a great savior .... yeah, I kno what you're saying..probably not many...but most of those clinics and stuff are kept afloat by private donations, not gov. funding

"We spend billions and billions on free care clinics, shelters, free food....." Really? Hmmm. I wonder where it all was when I was seriously ill, unable to work, and on the verge of homelessness... I sure as hell couldn't find any kind of meaningful assistance. bonni

Dave, does it matter whether them money is private or govt? It's American and it's there. And to Eliz, did you try private sources such as churches? S.

elizabyte ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2004 at 12:39 AM

I got a little help from a couple of private charity organizations. That's about it. If I had ended up homeless, I could have gone to a privately run women's shelter, but other than that, I was pretty much screwed. Thankfully, I no longer live in the United States, so I don't have to personally worry about it any more, but I still worry for people who managed to slip through the many, many cracks in the "system" in the United States. I've known an awful lot of people who just had a miserable string of luck and ended up in the dumpster, sometimes literally. bonni

Eliz...there is no "system"...there are people.... and you got some help. If you had needed more you would have gotten it. What did you expect? A mansion and a pony? Are you doing OK now? I hope so.. Scarab

This is the last thing I'm going to say here, because it is way OT now, so it needs to stop....we can discuss further at the OT here , or sign up on the included link. No offense, Scarab, but you sound like a Republican.:) Its the typical attitude in this country...the help is there...you just need to find it. The other prevailing thing I hear is that if you're not willing to work, you're not worth the help, and other similar bullshit. Mansion and pony...yeah right. but guess what, I would rather see the government fund the help ...rather than us fork over our tax dollars to fund wars, corruption, and murder throughout the world to further our materialistic and selfish attitudes here. In fact, I would like to see universal health care, a great education system..and that means EVERYONE gets the same quality education..free...free college , at least your initial 4 years to everyone...call me a socialist, or whatever, and if that's the definition, then that's what I am. There is no excuse for anyone to be homeless, without healthcare, or having to go to shelters and food lines to eat, in this country. Everything is based on money. If you don't have any or not enough, your forced to live in squallor. I can guarentee you that most of those places you can find a bed aren't even as nice as a Super 8. As far as billions and billions...from what I can figure out, most of these "free" clinics and pantries are barely getting by. I live in a fairly well off area of the country, and even here the pantries and shelters have to beg for cash...part of the problem is the ever increasing number of people out of work with no benefits to fall back on.... And that's what I mean by govt funding...there is no question the feds have stripped social fuinding, and the burden then falls to the states, which are also going broke... anyway, this can go on forever...if You guys want or need to discuss this further, head over to the OT forum here, or goto the provide link
