Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
...which is what I wanted to avoid because I don't want that Poser stuff that's in there: I only work with my DAZ meshes... I know that obj files may not be moved to another location, but these aren't obj but libraries content, and this may be organised, or not? And, finally, the download runtime is for downloaded content isn't it? Thanks for your time, but this is not the solution I am looking for.

As long as you keep the !Daz folder in the right place I suspect that you can still keep all the characters, morphs, etc... in the download folder. It's just that they reference the stuff in the !Daz folder directly so it must be in the right place. The stuff in the !Daz folder doesn't show up in your library. It is a hidden folder that the stuff in the library must access so it can work.
Right...so if I get it right, I can place V3, SP etc in another runtime, but I have to load the body and facemorphs into the main runtime... OK... Meanwhile I unionstalled P5, and chose "custom" for installation. THis way, I could choose not to install anything but the basic, which I reduced to Don and Judy HiRes. Thanks!

The way Daz does it there are two parts to the morphs. There's the stuff you see in Poser, in the library. Then there's the hidden stuff in the !Daz folder. You don't see that stuff in the libraries inside poser. It's hidden. It's referenced from inside the Pose files. So you can stick the characters, poses, mats, morphs, etc... in any runtime folder you want, including downloadruntime. You just have to make sure that the hidden !Daz folder is in the right place. So, the body and face morphs that you see in the Poser library do not have to go in the main runtime. They can be in the downloadsruntime. It's only that hidden folder (!DAZ) that has to be in the main runtimelibraries folder.
Thanks. Thefiles will probably be a variation of text-based obj files and contain some pointing to- information. Just like other obj files and textures cannot be renamed or moved without problems. Wish I had experience with P4 though... BTW: another question: In some tuts and tech notes, it is stated that only one level subfolders is permitted inside the character, pose etc folders. I noticed that in P5 (the poses for the boy for example) many more levels seem to be possible. Anyone an idea how deep this goes?

Rant, rant... Sorry, but... Well, I wanted to do a fresh install of Poser5 and this time organise everything like is said in many tuts, including the manual. As I never use the meshes that come with Poser, but only DAZ people (V3 etc...), I thought I could install these in the Downloads Runtime folder. Which I did. I installed V3 morphs (body and face) also in this runtime folder, but when I tried to load them, I have to point Poser to the correct folder and, groan, click open to each and every one of them. This is criminal! Can anyone show me a better method? Thanks!
