Good idea (if I'm understanding your description correctly). We had something like this at a former site I belonged to where there was a single email link automatically embedded in messages and pages...someone could report a violation by clicking the link and the message went to everyone on the "moderator team". Whoever was available first took care of the problem. Seemed to work well, especially if you didn't want to hang around the forums 24/7.
The Daz forums has that. It's a 'Report This' link.

Are you sure you aren't confusing Iraq with Farenheit 451? Far as I know there isn't a suggestion box on every street corner at all. Who needs them when mass murder is far more adequate. As for the suggestion made by Dialyn here, I think it's a good idea. I'm sure there are lots of people who would be more than happy to click a box for every single little TOS violation they imagine happens. Heck the mods might even get some real alerts and warez threads won't stay open for hours while the children play in them. Sorry, Dialyn, not trying to be sarcastic it's not a bad idea, the shout box at 3-DArena works just fine although I don't think the anonymous idea is good. There's nothing wrong with being identified as a squealer and mods/admin are better off knowing who posted for their own records. Besides, people might think before abusing the system if they know they'll be identified when posting an alert.
I didn't mean that the person would be anonymous to the moderators and administrators....just that they wouldn't necessarily be advertised on the forums as a target for flamers. I can't imagine why that would be a concern to me, but some people might have a problem with having a just concern ravaged for effect. But, as I say, it was a suggestion and not a demand. It's okay. I knew what to expect. 'night all.
wouldn't necessarily be advertised on the forums as a target for flamers. Ahh that's fair enough then. Logically they wouldn't need to be identified on the forum at all. The alert could be added to the existing tools for posting to threads, clicking that would generate a link for the thread and mailbomb the mods/admin that someone had a concern about that thread. No notification would need to be left on the forum at all if the software can generate the link code. Shouldn't be too difficult to add in my opinion, but what do I know about programming? :)
Why not have a check box that IDs/flags threads of interest - in the Coords/Mods/Admins view only - based upon how many Members check the box? Kind of like an "Adverse Thread Ranking", of sorts. It should not be that hard to do.
IIRC, I suggested this - or something similar - a long time ago; but I am too lazy to use the ridiculous Site search to find it. :0)

I think it is wonderful that we have coordinators in addition to moderators and administrators, but I think the people who most quickly see when a thread is going OT or starting to smoke with flames are members who participate on the thread. Sometimes, I've found, there is no one online to IM, or I have a hard time figuring out who would be the appropriate person. What about having a "Signal Box"...a single address/form/IM or whatever where members can post concerns they have and that would give the coordinators / moderators / administrators a place to glance through and see if action needs to be taken quickly or not. I don't think this should necessarily be on public display...I don't know that people want to be identified as "squealers" but it might help to make people feel less frustrated when they see a thread go on and on out of control (sometimes this can happen in a matter of minutes, of course, and no system will solve that). Just an idea. Up for debate. I'm not attached to it emotionally so if you want to slam it, go ahead.
