Does anyone have any advanced tutorials on fractal creations? So many of you create these spectacular images that leave me in awe! My fractals no matter what i do look so plain jane. Would anyone care to look at my entry in the fractal challenge and give me an idea on where to go from there? Thanks All!! G-Dawg

What kind of software are you using? Ultra Fractal has a very large and comprehensive helpfile and inbuilt tutorial and there are many sites from UF-users with useful suggestions on 'how to create' anice fractal image.

Hi G Dawg, Speaking from my own personal experience there isn't any tutorial that explains how to make spectacular fractals. Most of the time it may take hours to come up with one really nice fractal and to do this you need to have a good understanding of the fractal programme you are using and this is where the tutorials for those programmes come in. If you are just starting out, I suggest you try out first the freeware programmes "Fractal Explorer" or Tierazon. I found that Fractal Explorer was extremely user friendly with an excellent easy to understand tutorial to get started. For something different try the freeware Apophysis or the Gimp for flame fractals. Ultimately as with any art form, you will need lots of patience and plenty of time to experiment.

Hey G-Dawg- Check out the Fractal Community main page by way of the above link. There are links to all kinds of fractal info and programs. Many fractal programs are freeware, so there's no reason not to keep trying different programs until you find something that works for you. I am partial to Apophysis for flame fractals, so I highly recommend trying it. If you have a program-specific question, go ahead and post it, you'll find plenty of help here.

To everyone who has taken the time to respond.... THANK YOU!!! The flame fractal program Apophysis looks like a winner. No i just need to figure out how it works.... ;-) G

The beta version of Apophysis2 is only available through the Apophysis Mailing list, so that Mark can answer questions and work out bugs. Apophysis 1 is not a stand alone program, but rather was written to work with UltraFractal. Here is the address to subscribe to the mailing list: apophysis-subscribe@lists.fractalus.com

Fractals will always amaze me!

In the Fractal Community it seems there is no link to such programs as TieraZon or Sterlingware and a number of other programs by Stephen Ferguson. Here is a URL where these can be downloaded. http://www.eclectasy.com/Iterations-et-Flarium24/software/ Marion

Thanks, Marion! Will get that link up there. If there is anything else that should be there, let me know. Nick
