I downloaded the program that AS suggested-"Elefont"- and here is a result. I can use all fonts, including dingbats on it as well. Nice...thanks AS!

The only problem I can see at this time is that the text curves backward towards the end of the word. I tried changing fonts, but it still produced the same effect. Comments?

Melansian_Mentat ( ) posted Sat, 10 January 2004 at 11:14 PM

Hmm. Is that a sun on the left edge of the horizon? It looks a bit strange. Other than that, marvelous colors! A tasteful image; radiantly resplendent. {Or maybe I'm just biased cuz I like purple :p}

Ardiva ( ) posted Sat, 10 January 2004 at 11:19 PM

Well..this is not for my gallery... Just to show that text can be applied in Bryce with the "Elefont" program.

Melansian_Mentat ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 12:54 AM

Well, then you'd better save at least the sea and sky. Great stuff.

Ardiva ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 12:59 AM

Thank you MM. The sea and sky are mine.....all saved! smile

"The only problem I can see at this time is that the text curves backward towards the end of the word. I tried changing fonts, but it still produced the same effect. Comments?" The curving backward is due to camera angle and perspective. Try changing the camera or rotating the letters and you'll see what I mean. Elefont is a great little program, and the price is right (free). Be sure to download its sister program, Spiralizer (also free). John

I find I don't get as smooth a curve using Elefont as I do using a terrain for 3d text.....just got a dozen kanji fonts to play with...:)

The above is B-R-Y-C-E, in three different fonts...

Zhann: "The above is B-R-Y-C-E, in three different fonts..." Did you mean to post an image?

Thanks AS for the info and pic. Here's my better result.

misfit7707 ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 11:13 AM

this is very frustrating for me, i downloaded elefont, but whenever i try to make words with it, i export them, but when i import them into bryce, bryce encounters a problem and need to shut down. i cannot figure out why this is!!! i've let it go fo now, but if anyone can help me out with this, that would be great. oh, good image by the way, but just increase the poly count on the words. the second image is much better

pakled ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 2:35 PM

hmm..I've used Elefont a little, and it seems to export as .dxf (forgot to check if it does .obj..;), but Wings 3d will export in .3ds, which shows up a little better in Bryce..only headache is you have to type in the actual name of the font..;) just my 2p..and don't worry, you can try smoothing on the letters in Bryce as well..

Ardiva ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 3:54 PM

I smoothed it as far as it would go. :-)

Zhann ( ) posted Sun, 11 January 2004 at 4:26 PM

Sometimes the dxf files become corrupt and Bryce won't import them, I had that problem with spiralizer, e-mail Armin and ask for help...or check the help file see if anything's in there...

These can also be saved in Bryce as OBJ's and imported into Poser.

Ardiva ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 12:11 AM

Good to know, bknoh...thanks!

Quest ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 12:42 AM

I like the second one best Ardiva, nice colors in your skies.

Ardiva ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 12:45 AM

I do too, Quest...it was after I followed AS instructions that I was able to do a better job the second time around. Thank you for the kudos on my sky. :-)

Ardiva ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 12:52 AM

Yeah..I found that out when I was playing around trying to choose a font. I also many dingbats installed, so I had fun viewing them in the program. ps..cute little kitty. :-)

Melansian_Mentat ( ) posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 3:53 AM

Hey, where do you get Elefont and Spiralizer, anywho?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Tue, 13 January 2004 at 4:37 AM

Get Elefont and Spiralizer here; http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/default.htm If Bryce doesn't want to import your dxf, use a freeware file converter, save it as obj, then it should import just fine.
