I download this morning DAZ STUDIO for MacOs x, Panther, and not open nothing. Not open oj files, pz3, cr2... Nothing. But I see this, DZ created one new folder in my Macintosh HD: users1. Not created folders in users. Why?

What OSX version is on your Mac? If it is not 10.3, you need to download and install MacPython v2.23 prior to installing Studio. -scara

I Panther, the last version.

I've been using it for a week now and while there are several bugs I've had no problems loading Poser content and .OBJ files. I was just wondering exactly how your trying to load these items? Are they not showing up in the file selector? Does D/S crash? Are you sure they aren't being loaded but are out of the camera view? The User1 is the Darwin library for the 3Delight API for the renderer. Don't why it's installed there. Dan

When you installed the program, did you get any warning messages, like it couldn't find Python? If no warning messages, at the end of the install process, did you let the program search your hard drive for Poser content? If you said no, then you have to start Studio, open up preferences and manually direct it to add the paths for the Poser content on your drive(s). Apply your changes, then click OK. Quit the program, then restart it. One bug that surfaced in my testing was that when you install Poser, the folder is named Poser (tm)4. Well, when you add that path in Studio, it changes the tm symbol to a ? mark. Guess what - there's no such folder on your hard drive named Poser?4 - that's why you can't open anything! So what you have to do is rename your Poser folder to Poser4 (no spaces or symbols). Open the Studio preferences again and choose the new path for Poser content. It'll work now. -scara

When and where did you get the Mac version? I have not seen it, and it isn't in my account page, just the PC version!

Work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAZ STUDIO not read the folders with accents. In Spanish many woks have accents and write the folders with him, but DS is in english and not read this folders.

Estruch ( ) posted Fri, 23 January 2004 at 10:07 AM

In DAZ forum exist the Mac version.

fretshredder ( ) posted Fri, 23 January 2004 at 10:26 AM

I'd report that as a bug if I were you. It's not unreasonable to expect it to read directory names with accented characters me thinks :-)

scaramouche ( ) posted Fri, 23 January 2004 at 2:11 PM

It's already been reported. I am very surprised that the Mac version has been released to the unsuspecting public... -scara

Mac version is really just a preview the official release is to be next week. It wasn't on my download page either. The link for the acces was in the daz forum in the members only forum under a message called daz studio 1/21 udate. They say that it's aknowledge as still having issues and that a more stable version is due next week. I think there addressing the cry for a mac version. I haven't had a chance really play with it yet but I did notice a difernce between the texturing on my G4 12" power book and my older G4 tower. On the tower the preview of the texture is all garble, but renders corectly. Could be a graphics card issue. Haven't had a chance to write a bug report yet.

Astounded to find it in my download section today @ Daz. Just suffered the three hours of download to get it and then rushed over here to this very thread to hear these warnings. Thanks for that. I'll let you know how it hurts when I try and run it, later.

If you have OS 10.2, make sure you go snag the latest Python (2.2 I believe) for OSX... the installer will take you there (via Safari) if you don't have Python installed at all, or if the version is too old.

BTW, it will have some kinks in it... I've already sent in the reports on window movement, camera sluggishness, and etc.

Estruch I noticed from your screen capture that your using OS 9 , DAZ Studio does not work in OS 9. IF DAZ Studio installed properly it would be in your OS X applications folder. Maybe you have a corrupt download or you don't have the latest release. DAZ jsut released a new version yesterday , maybe you need to download that ?

Estruch ( ) posted Sun, 25 January 2004 at 1:24 AM

DAZ STUDIO run in MacOs X, Panther, but I use MacOs 9 for the capture image. Screen Catcher run in Classic, not in Mac Os X. Now run very well Daz Studio. Daz Studio not read the folders with accents (in Spanish I use this) or non works with characters non English. I'm Spanish and use works with characters non English and the folder with all the 3D software (Poser, Vue, Bryce, DAZStudio) is called EDICION 3D (with accent in the O). DAZSTUDIO not read this folder and not open nothing. I write this folder without accent in the O and DAZSTUDIO run.

I just got and installed the latest .19 version. I don't have Python and it didn't ask for it. After install it opened IE for the readme. I closed IE and clicked on DS and ............. absolutely nothing happened! Uninstalled, restarted, reinstalled - same thing.

Running a dual 533 G4, 1.5 g ram, GeForce 2 card and OS 10.2.8.

Attached Link: http://www.python.org/download/download_mac.html

If you are running ANY version of OSX less than 10.3 Panther go to the attached link and download 2.23, then install Studio. Don't assume that the program will work if you do not have the required OS. -scara

Thanks scara. I d/l Python 2.3 and DS now works. The only problem now is that it's too slow. It takes 2 to 3 minutes to do anything after clicking any button! I think I'll pass on this build.
