Usin every ounce left of 'abstract reserves' in my brain......I'M OUT OF IDEAS! It's like, I open bryce, and TRY to create something, but nothing comes out of it..I've just been making trash. You know what I do when I hit the artist's block. I delve into my old issues of American Art magazine and try to duplicate an old masters or comtemporary master's artwork. Usually about half way through the piece I start to digress and then ideas start to flow. Or I just take a drive through the dairy flatlands out in Mira Loma and the landscape is enough to get some emotions going. Or I ask people for scenes they'd like to see then I pick one. Hope you free your mind soon.

Here's what I do to keep the creative juices flowing 1) I read a lot of magazines. Since I like doing interiors, I read mostly interior design magazines. 2) I view art at Renderosity on a daily basis to get ideas for technique. 3) I subscribe to eGroups - Bryce list. http://www.egroups/bryce which is run by Wolfie 4) I subscribe to alt.binaries.3d.bryce 5) I participate in Project Imagination - contact Don Tatro for info. The results of each week are posted both at alt.binaries.3d.bryce and on Tiger's web site. I don't have URLs because I'm at work. 6) I get ideas from my husband. Hope this helps. Sarah

I get drunk and bang my head against the wall til I see funky colors and swirls, then I sit back down and try to re-create those swirly colors and shapes LOL!!:-)

When I get creative block (Which I have right now as a matter of fact) I tend to delve into my comic collection and re-read back issues of damn near anything... I also do a lot of browsing of other peoples art looking for inspiration. Best as I can I try to clear my mind of the problem and the frustration... sooner or later something clicks and I'm back in business. It's like insomnia, the harder I try to sleep the less I can, the harder I try to create, the less it works. (I'm also an insomniac, speaking from personal experience there) Creativity seems to work best for me when it flows naturally from the muse... If I force it, it doesn't flow at all. Believe me I know where you're coming from and empathise completely... best of luck.

To each his or her own when it comes to the newsgroups. I find alt.binaries.3d.bryce more useful (read "Active") than the eGroups one. Between the forum here and the binaries group, I think I learn 80% of what I know about Bryce. The other 20% comes from trial and error.

Lol Clay, Hey DA, Try the Challenge Arena, If you post a Triangle Challenge, You challenge someone, and then they challenge another Artist, then that Artist in turn challenges you to complete the triangle. you never know what will come back but you can be assured that it will come back. Ghostofmacbeth has done some awesome Tolkien Work as a result of an open challenge in the Arena. Not to mention others that have participated. It's been a bit slow lately so I hope to see yo uover there. I'm hopefull that some changes will be made at the Challenge Arena to make things a little more organized. However you decide to get your insiration, I wish you luck. Hawkfyr<~~~been uninspired lately also.... or is it Diablo II?)

Y'know, your all being very mature in your suggestions. Get outside, digital artist. Forget about everything at home. If it ain't coming, ya can't force it. Have a drink or talk up a girl or run through town screaming. I know from experience that if you can't get your mojo up, its because your mind is hungry for experiences to process into art.

I have two things I do when I run out of ideas. I have a large collection of pictures from variuous magazines and such, and I just try to duplicate one of those. The other thing I do is that I have a large library of models, and I import one of those that maybe I've never used before, and start building a scene around it and just see what happens. Something usually does.

Usually when I hit a block, I try to get away from visual sources of inspiration and ideas, and instead submerse myself in music...either my own compositions , or by others...that generate visual ideas, and then go from there. And a lot of times, this helps in reverse, when I hit a creative block for music: I get away from it, and look at imagery to get the ideas flowing! Another of my favorite sources for both graphic and music ideas: remembered childhood nightmares. You can get some great visual ideas from those...! ;-) --Har

I say DEM for inspiration. You can get real maps of real places, and expand the realism or go fantasy. On my page here (inyerface), the 2 top rated were started with DEMs, and evolved into what they are now. DEM Deserts

There's an ftp site on my DEM page,, and link to USGS. My page is set up for Mac downloads, but there's lots of info out there for PCs. I posted 2 jpgs here in the bryce forum, also. You can use them for a fun start. I think I'll change my page a little, to be more PC friendly. I can convert more pct files to jpg....
