By "creating models" from scratch, do you mean to create an original character that is not already furnished with Poser? If so, you will need a 3D modeling program and lots and lots of time to learn many things - it is an ambitious goal! If, on the other hand, you are talking about customizing one of the Poser characters, then you've come to the right place. There are lots of folks here that can help. Can you be more specific in what it is you want to learn?
Hello, Well all I really want to do is create a new model . So if I can make a new model using Poser 5 models as a starting point great . I have been downloading tutorials about texture maps and using Adobe to paint in new face textures . I also have another program to make morphs, Morph Master Pro . Which I have played around with . But how do I save the changes in a file or files for uploading if I can do that ???? Thank you for your time and help, Darle
Sometimes the terminology is confusing when you are new to 3D and the Poser world. Most of us in the Poser world think of a new MODEL as a new figure that is built totally from scratch in another 3D program, and then made posable to work in Poser. They are sold or distributed separately from Poser. Examples of other models are the DAZ Millenium figures (Victoria, Michael, the Millenium Kids, etc). What it appears that you want to create is what most Poser-ites call another CHARACTER ... you want to take an existing Poser-ready figure and change the textures, facial features, and body shapes. With that in mind, now we know where you can start .... The unfortunate part of this is that there isn't really a single place that you can go to find all of the information you need. So, if you let us know what you want to accomplish first (creating a texture, applying a texture, using existing morphs, creating your own morphs, so on), we might be able to direct you to some tutorials that can help you accomplish that. It might also help to know what other programs you have (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc) when we recommend tutorials. We will get you there. 8-)
Hello Deecey,?? Well lets see , I have Adobe Photoshop 7.0 , Paint Shop Pro 8 , Morph Master Pro , UV Mapper free version, Poser 5 , DAZ Studios betta version, Adobe Photoshop Elements , Anim8or , Injection Pose Builder. As for a place to start , I guess the best place to start would be where you suggest . Making a completely new model from scratch is a good ideal , however I would have to do so with the programs that I have on my system right now . If I use a character that comes with Poser 5 and change the textures , body shape and facial features is that the same as making a new model ? I would like to apply textures that make the model as life like as I can .... Darle

Hello to All, I am new to 3d modeling and I have been searching for Tutorials on creating models from start to finish . I recently purchased Poser 5 and yes I have been reading the book that came with the program , however I find it a little on the confusing side , it has too many foot notes telling you to referr to another chapter for further information . I have hopes of finding some tutorials on the web that will guide me through the process of making a model from scratch or at least close to it . Any suggestions ?? Thank you for your time and help, 3dmodel errrr rookie
