Like I said, I'm a technoclutz. *grin* But this is what I get when I import or export any object from Max using any UV Mapping program. So it's not a problem with the editor. I thought the model was having problems, so I did the same thing with the Default Poser female object, and lo and behold, same thing. So I'm doing something wrong. And thank you for answering me. =)

You know. . . I get this problem too. What I usually do is export the UV's from the model before this happens to it using Steve Cox's UV Mapper. Then if this happens I can just open the sucker up in UV Mapper again and re-apply the old UV's. There may be an easier way to do it, or something more straight forward, but it works. That works in the programs I use anyway. I don't have Max, so I don't know if it would work on a 3DS file. I don't think UV Mapper can open anything but OBJ.

I think you might be using an old version of OBJ2MAX, the Wavefront importer. It had a problem with multiple texture coordinates on a single vertex. Check here for the latest version (2.6 at the moment): http://www.habware.at/duck2.htm You should also update the exporter MAX2OBJ as well. Steve

I'll get you the settings I use when I get home tonight, assuming it isn't a problem with an old version of the plugin, as Steve suggested. I've seen this kind of map before, it happens when Max more-or-less looses the mapping information, but Max will do it correctly with the right settings - I did Supermodel Vickie and preserved all the original mapping, as I wanted to be able to use Vickie maps. BTW, I assume you are using Max V3? I don't know about the plugins for Max 2 & 2.5.

No, one bite of Max was expensive enough. LOL! It figures, as the most expensive piece of software here, and the least used. The learning curve is just too high for me. But I can fiddle with it, and see what comes out. grin We have 2.5 here, and that's complicated enough. =P Anyway, I figured out what was wrong. It was another plugin interfering in the proper function of the object one, and I moved it out of Max, then, bingo, it all fell together. And god, thank you Steve for UVMapper. It makes it all so much easier. I still don't know all it's secrets, but what I need to do, it does perfectly. =)

Glad you got it figured out, and that UVMapper is being useful. Thanks for the kind words =)
