Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 08 8:41 am)
Hi eggi, I've got a mac OS x and I'm fairly new to poser 5 myself. I can't answer your question although it sounds like something I should try and do too, so anyway I just thought I'd say hello and I'll wait and see if anyone answers you. Bet you wished you'd paid more attention too your english lessons now hehe Love esther
I aim to update it about once a month. Â Oh, and it's free!
What happens when you load the morph target that you edited? Does Poser put up any message? I've noticed too that when you load a "squished" morph target (without the lines starting with vt and f) absolutely nothing happens, but if you follow the instructions it should work and you get a new dial with the name "shape1" (or any other name you chose).
Hi MarianneR, thanks for reply. After I m ready with the settings in Poser Poser ask me how to save the wavefront obj. (after choosing single frame) In this window, what I have to choose? I have paste all v-lines. But there is no shape in the prophieties :-(( Poser gave no message to me! Nothing happend I have just cut out the lines starting with v. I havent deleted the other settings! For testing I have tried to import the obj file in Poser. But he doesnt import it. He gave me an error message. I dont know what Im doing wrong! PLEASE HELP ME! eggi
Now open your exported file, say it's named "vickihead.obj" and you'll see something like this:
v -0.000616282 0.646023 0.03569
v -0.00209108 0.645882 0.0354756
.... (lots of lines that start with "v" )
vt 0.516514 0.076071
vt 0.515097 0.072126
vt 0.519675 0.113336
... (and a lot of lines that start with "vt")
vn -0.109033 0.982014 -0.154143
vn -0.0199377 0.662191 -0.749069
vn 0.00934567 0.993223 -0.11585
... (many lines like these too)
f 5163/1098/5163 5141/1097/5141 5140/1209/5140 5145/1091/5145
f 52/1176/52 35/1094/35 34/1208/34 36/1196/36
... (and then lots of lines starting with "f")
Now open the file with the morph, say it is called "morph.obj", and it will probably only have lines starting with "v" in it.
Now delete all the lines in "vickihead.obj" that start with "v" (not the ones starting with "vn" or "vt".
Select all the lines in "morph.obj", copy (command +c) and paste them into the "vickihead.obj" where the lines were that you deleted.
Save the "vickihead.obj" file. It's best if you give it a new name so you can try again if you made a mistake.
Well, I'm not sure if this will help or not. I'm running Poser 4 under Classic in Mac OS X. I make my morphs and then export them as .obj files just as MarianneR so nicely illustrated in message 6 and 7 above (thanks MarrianneR!!) Next, I select the body part in Poser and do a command i to get the body part properties. Then, click on the button named "Add Morph Target." You can then select the .obj file you previously exported and change the parameter dial label at the same time. Click OK and if all goes well, the new morph will be applied to the body part. Again, I'm not sure if this works in Poser 5 or not.
@ Marianne No the morph is from the freestuff section! I have this result with other morphs, too! But thank you very much for trying helping me!!! I think I am just to dump for morphing in P5 :-(( In Poser 4 unter MAC OS9 I had no Problems! @LeeMoon, I dont have the classic OS on my MAC anymore! Ive deleted it as I installed Panther 10.3! @Ghostofmacbeth sometemis it is very hard to be a macuser! Thanks to you all eggi

Hi, I have a big probling using .obj files (morph targets) with poser 5 for MAC OSX. Someone in this forum gave me the following tip: 1 load the figure. 2. Turn IK off. 3. Then go to Windows: Joint editor and click the "Zero Figure" button. Close the Joint Editor window. 4. Next you choose File: Export: Wavefront.obj Then choose Single frame 5. Next you'll get the Hierarchy Selection. Click Universe to deselect it and then click your bodypart (or rather the little square in front of the name). You can only do one bodypart at a time. 6. Then you'll get the Save as dialog. Give it a suitable name so you'll remember what it is. 7. Next you open this file in your text editor and exchange the v-lines. I have make that intructions. I opened the obj file from my figure in athe OSX own text editor and cut all v-lines out and paste the v-lines from the morphtarget into it. If i load the morph onto my figure, nothing in the propheties window happened :-(( has someone another idea how to import obj morph targets into poser 5 for MAC OSX? Please do it step by step, because Im a newbie and english was not my favorite lesson in school ;-) Greets eggi
