To fantasy, comic, or history enthusiasts.

I am learning the modeling of sword or dagger.
Would anyone show me nice sword photos or drawings or give links to them?
Do you know any good picture book of nice swords, and daggers ?

If I make one using your picture as a reference (should be at my own choice, and may take a long time), I will present you with the model I make, with your name on the blade. Also, I may be able to give away some of them in Poser free stuffs in future.

The attached picture is my first modeling practice of a dagger. The animal head was imported.

I could take pictures of all the swords I have but the above site is where I bought most of them. It's a great resource, I use it myself for ideas.

Someone made armour like this for poser but I can`t remember where it was, maybe someone else knows?

xantor ( ) posted Thu, 29 January 2004 at 12:28 PM

The armour would be great for poser I think the one I mentioned was less detailed than that one.

I think Dodger made a full yoroi set for Mike 3 over at Daz, There is the one in RMP from Communion and a free set over at PoserISM for Vicky3, though there is little feminine about it }-) THis would be a beautiful armor set, and If I could request, make it for Michael 1&2. If you are into extreme pain }-) you could model it in parts so that users could load parts as options. Your dagger looks very nice! THanks, Shogakusha

I'm going to spill some beans prematurely here, but I've nearly completed the work on a morphable nihonto. This will be able to be morphed and parts (props) added to create almost any Japanese sword from a tanto, wakizashi, daito, nodachi, jindachi, shirasaya, to you name it. And like real nihonto, parts will be interchangeable: tsuba, mitokoromono, kashira, fuchi, jindachi mounts, kojiri, etc. This project has been HIGHLY and PROFESSIONALLY researched and has taken over three months so far. Not only were good, real nihonto used, but books (Satou's "The Japanese Sword: A comprehensive guide", Yumoto's "The Samurai Sword", "Arms and Armor of the Samurai", "The Shogun Age Exhibit", among them) and several dozen references from the web (many from Japanese sources). I'm not only interested in Japanese history and language, interested in Samurai, interested in Japanese martial arts, but am also training in Iaido, kenjutsu, and bikenjutsu. So, if I didn't do this correctly, I'd be beheaded by my sensei while performing seppuku! ;) That's all that I can say here and now. More detailed info and product previews will be forthcoming in the Product Showcase forum when ready. Kuroyume0161

Thank you very much for your responses.
After making several western swords, and daggers, I also want to make Katana with the details. I have Katana pictures.
After that, I hope I will make a Yoroi Armour.

To all who gave (will give) me the information about sword or dagger (the picture, or the link), I will present you with a sword or a dagger in future. Please be patient, it may take a long time. I will mail you the notice when it is ready.

shogakusha, I am hoping to make a yoroi Armour, but not near future. It is a big project.
It will be for Mike 1&2, because I dont have Mike3.

kuroyume0161, I am looking forward to your Katana. I love to see serious products with the details.
Did you see Last Samurai, American style movie? It was pretty good.

xvcoffee, No, I an not interested in temple thing (naked girls) at this time. I like beautiful girls, but not this time. Your picture is very nice, but the sword looks like a stick. Sorry.

brittmccary, It is nice. Do you have the color picture ?

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Thu, 29 January 2004 at 9:09 PM

Sensei "forced" all of his Iaido students to see it. Actually, I wanted to see it anyway. Tom Cruise being beaten with a stick (bokken) - what more can you ask!? ;)

No; these are old ink drawings, I'm afraid. But I do have a closeup of a dagger shaft. These were mostly done in metal. Different kinds, inlayed, etc...

Himico ( ) posted Sat, 31 January 2004 at 11:21 AM

Thank you very much for the information.
I now have ideas for sword and dagger.

brittmccary, thank you for the detailed picture.
I am thinking to try to make it.

xvcoffee, I will present her with a nice dagger. Thanks for showing her.

I am now interested in dagger than sword.
Dagger may be a mans jewelry, symbol, or toy rather than fighting tool.

Thank you very much again to all who made responses.
HimiCo.

Museum Replicas Limited (or Atlanta Cutlery, but you want the Museum Replicas Limited catalog) has a very nice paper catalog with a variety of swords in it. They also have a web site. Use the link below to go to the main page, then go to their sister site Museum Replicas Limited (I don't usually use their site, but it looks like you can select a "swords and daggers" link from the new page. Site might be undergoing some maintenance right now too looks like. I can't seem to bookmark the exact location you want, only the home page, so you'll need to search a bit yourself.)

Also try http:www.kultofathena.com http:www.albionarmorers.com and, of course, there's always the public library (remember those? ;oD )
