Exports have to be UV mapped for the textures to map correctly in Bryce and the textures have to be image files or solid colors. .OBJ's are nice cause there are text files and a number of 3rd party apps for manipulating them (like www.uvmapper.com) and the image files are external so they're easy to change in paint programs. .3DS is also good - they're binary files so they load fast and are small in size but they don't include any smoothing data and the texture data is (often) internalized. You can do some architectural work inside Bryce but I would think it would be far easier (and more satisfiying) to do it in max/lw. HTH; Dan
And make sure you're saving as .3ds and not .max...Bryce can't read max files.

Yes you can make architectural models in Bryce alone.... Judyk did the cathedral at the link in Bryce. Take a peek to see just what you can do in Bryce. 8)There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.

Small point - how do you pronounce your name? I always find this difficult when someone has most of the alphabet in their handle.....;-)

Obviously, Bryster, it's pronounced just like it's spelled.

I suppose it depends on how much accuracy you need... From a professional or contractor's point of view? No, Max or LW or Rhino would be way better... But from an artistic poit of view?!?! You can do just about anything... The link is an old model I've been trying to make a background for, but it's still one of my favorite castle models that I made, all with booleans, inside Bryce 4 and 5.I've been doing architectural renderings for some time now. Granted, they are more artistic and certainly not meant for a contractor to work from ... but the architects' like them. Shadowdragonlord .... I like your Black Tower concept, except for the fact that all of your windows/doors are stained glass ... even those leading out to walkways and balconies. Was there an artistic reason for that, because stained glass windows are virtually never meant to be functional as openings.
Could be worse, could be raining.
Aye, ricky, that's one of my very first renders of the castle. Since then it's been bi-levelled, meaning I installed hundreds of smaller windows to increase the scale, and you are correct about the stained glass. It's a very tedious model to work with, at this point, but next I WILL make the balconies functional! Good point, My friend...

Hieverybody ! I've been using MAX and LightWave for somyears , know I wanna know if it is possible to transfer models from this packages to bryce while keeping the mapping and materials ? Is it possible to make architectural models in Bryce independently? I have tried to do so but I've always failed, and disappointed .... , but Bryce's stunning and fast landscape renderings don't let me forgrt it ... Please tell me whats the issue ... Thanks
