Couple of things.. I posted this picture over in the character creator's forum, but I dunno how many people bounce between there and here. I'm working on a Poser4 Doctor Who character. I'm currently stuck trying to find decent clothes for him. I've got a coat, but it's got a nasty rip in the front where it was cut open. Here's a general request to people making clothes - Stop making lingerie! We've got plenty! Try your hand at making something that doesn't already exist, like decent coats and shirts and stuff.. >:) Also, is the 3D program Organica any good? All I have is the save-disabled demo, so I can't save models - and can't import them into poser. So I have no idea if it's worth buying, to use as a character-building tool. Cheers! :)

First off .. I have to agree on the lingerie thing S No clue about Organica ... Just wanted to say the figure looks pretty cool so far S

The figure looks great. I just watched Dr. Who (with this version of the Doctor) and you have made a good likeness. If you haven't found a scarf yet, the posable cloth strip by spherebot2000, here in free stuff at http://www.renderosity.com/download.ez?uploadid=2204 might work for you. Where did you find the coat? Someone might be willing to make it work.

Thanx, guys. :)I tried the cloth strip, but it's about half as short as I need, and it doesn't really fold too well when extended to the correct length. I've got a friend I'm trying to get to build me a scarf in 3dsmax... have to see what he comes up with. The coat came from Morph World.. it's the basic trenchcoat with some morph targets added to open the front. The problem being that the stock trenchcoat was never designed to open, and the only way to seperate the front parts was to tear the model, leaving that unsightly rend down the front.

Organica's one of the programs Davo uses for his twisted creatures.. they turn out really well. I've played with it myself, but I didn't particularly care for it. Of course, I prefer a nurbs approach to modelling. If you like modelling with metaballs, I'd say organica's the program for you. I'll second the request to make more "normal" clothing and lay off the lingerie. I could use some more practical clothing, too. =) Good work on the figure. I've never seen Dr. Who, so I don't really know how it's supposed to look, but it looks good in its own right. =) Rosh

Have you asked Traveler if he would make the changes to suit your project? I'm sure he would put it on his list.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Sun, 10 September 2000 at 2:26 AM

You have an extremely good likeness here. This was my fav Doctor! I too second the motion on less lingere and more clothing for P4 Male. Perhaps with all the excitement over Michael there will be clothing made for both him and P4 Male. One can truly hope. I need specific clothing items also for the creating the characters from my vampyr novel, most of which are male. Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

Couple of responses.. Roshigoth: Thanx for the heads-up about Organica. I'd been curious how well it translated to poser. I guess my next step is to try and get my hands on a full working copy. wyrwulf: I haven't asked Traveler to make changes. It's a good idea tho. Is his email posted somewhere, or is he on here a lot? I'd need to know how and where to talk to him.... it is "him" isn't it? Traveler's a kind of non-gender specific name. Dreamspinner: What's your project? I've got a couple others I'm hoping to find some good outfits for. Something I'd really like to get would be a ghostbusters-style coverall. There was a "workman" figure, but it was based on an older lo-res figure model and didn't have any morphs added.

I need an open (key word there) biker's jacket (I have the closed one from Poser World). A friend separated the obj trenchcoat from Trench Coat man but I need it turned into conforming clothing. And HAIR!!! I need hair like the guys wore in the 80's metal bands. Vairesh has a few he's previews that I could probably use on males. And high heeled boots for men, though I've recently gotten a beta of some Thigh high boots I'm messing with and PhilC made me some "Motley Crue" platforms. The much talked about P4 Male Catsuit would also be wonderful to have (as in making KISS Poser Figures). I can't get over the likeness on the Tom Baker Doctor Who! That is extremely well done! Cobalt!! I've got the shirt you need.. and you can too! It's the Poet's shirt by Steve at poserworld... forgot the exact page no# but it's within 4 fromthe back... around 21-22 or so.. open collar, puffed sleeves.. highly simular to Baker's Doctor's shirt... only the best mate... great work.. I'd love the morph targets for the face (hint hint) )

Great work and Likeness, wouldnt mind seeing this when it is finished.

Traveler is the owner/operator of Morph World. I recommend joining his E-Groups mailing list. There are good people on the list with plenty of tips and hints. Also, Traveler puts up special secret downloads for list members.

Great likeness of Tom Baker. I've been trying to make a good one of him and haven't been too successful. I tried the cloth strip for the scarf, baut it's too angular and very hard to manipulate. It doesn't flow. I also would like to see less lengerie. WAY too much of that. How much can a girl use? The lacy bras are on overkill. Let's see much more male clothing, especially functional things like the coat, etc. Posette has too many clothes anyway. P4 Man and Michael need some clothes (especially Michael, the poor guy is stark naked right now). I'll bet, with the great morphs on Michael, we could come up with some great Doctor Who characters. I've tried to do a Pertwee Doctor, but he had a very complex face, but with the "Old" morph, it might be possible. Melanie

Oh, and as for Organica, you might try looking in eBay. But be VERY careful about buying software from folks on eBay. Be sure to only look for factory sealed and unregistered copies. There really are legit copies out there and you can get a great price. Melanie

Hi Folks! cobalt, this an excellent likeness of The Fourth Doctor/Tom Baker. I've since taken down the image at my web site of the Third Doctor and the Daleks, but if you're interested, post a response and I'll send you a .jpg copy. There are some wonderful Poser-ready models of Daleks that used to be in FreeStuff and the old Infini-D Resource Center has a fully-textured model of the TARDIS. I've been thinking about composing a Cybermen Poser figure. Let's talk!!! Peter (Dr Zik)

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 11 September 2000 at 7:58 PM

Oooh! A Cyberman! I was hoping someone might give that one a go. That would be great! Better than the Borg any day. Melanie
