...mostly Stitch, though. ;) I'm about to start an online project of sorts and was wondering how I can create, or where I could find, a Stitch model. To me, he looks like a koala but I've yet to see a teddybear/koala figure with more than poseable arms and legs. Please help. :) Stormy

Oooh! Thank you! I can't make morphs, but with a bit of fiddling I -might- be able to make it work. Maybe I'll finally be able to try my hand at magnets without throwing the computer out the window! :D

I have no fear! Ahem... Naw. Really, it's just for a fanfic (nothing dirty ;P). I figure I take my... everything I own in my hand with Marvel, may as well test fate a bit more. :)

Trouble iss. Copyright owners like Disney or Paramount don't even want Fan sites because they usually do not request permission to use/create images. Perhaps you should na,e your characters Milo and Titch LOL.

Good idea! I may just try something like that... ;)

Disney is in too much chaos right now (losing Pixar, Eisner on the way out, all their movies are flops, firing the animation department) to do anything about minor ripoffs. From what I've heard, they're gonna be in total disarry for many months to come.

DarkElegance ( ) posted Sat, 07 February 2004 at 4:30 PM

just you should be careful. they have gone after ten year olds with lil websites for using a picture of one of their charecters...they are visciouse and to assume that because they lost pixar means they will change that attatude is wrong.

I am curiouse though something just came to mind. there is a whole forum here about copyright issues..filled to the brim with the outraged posts about how bad copyright infringment is. I am just curiouse why when it is a big company like disney is it a "minor rip off" but if it was say...someone ripping off a renderosity artist it is a horrendouse crime?

Because the loss, to them, from people who won't make a cent is minor compared to the millions that their ventures bring in. An image. To us, who have nothing (or assumedly), it's a huge blow if we're just struggling to 'make it'. I'm sure it comes off hypocritical somewhere along the line, there's my tuppence. Me? I just want to help a friend stretch his creative wings as he encourages me in stretching my own. If they shut us down... well, at least we tried and that beats any failure. :)

Acutally, Disney is losing money hand-over-fist, not due to minor ripoffs like fans doing Lilo and Stitch figures, but due to their mismanagement of the company, bad investment in movie flops, downturn in tourism due to terrorism, destruction of their animation department, etc. So squealing to them about some Stitch ripoff would be like telling some guy his shoe is untied while he's trying to put out a house fire.

May I just say that there is a group of very dedicated people at Disney who do nothing but search for infringements. In my 13 years at Disney, I was contacted on many occasions to help identify possible infringements on a variety of physical items and the Web does not go unnoticed. The more things are allowed to be used in public with permission, the more into public domain something stretches. For this reason, Disney is voracious about infringements. Fans do not seem to understand this. So just fair warning. Cris
