It depends on what character she's created them for. If it's for one of the Poser standard figures, she could distribute them encoded. If it's for Vic or Mike 3, she could build a MOR pose with injection pose builder (available at Daz3d.) I'm not trying to be harsh, but most people find they distribute their first few efforts as freebies... so if they are doing something wrong, people will make suggestions, without any hassle of disgruntled customers. G'luck!

Beta testing is essential. Find a few experienced Poser users who can test the characters on their systems and hunt down any errors which your friend may have made. It's an unwritten rule that beta testers also use the character in a few gallery images to get a little publicity for the product, too. Rosity expects all products sold to be in zip format. There's a few pages of info in the marketplace. These set out the formats to be used, things which must be included in the zip, file size restrictions and so forth.

.exe doesn't work on the Mac. We may be a smaller group, but we are vocal, and do purchase. Even though I also have a PC, so can extract exe files, I don't even download free .exes. Too much risk of viruses and too much trouble. For Macs, beware of too long file names or path names, use : in lieu of to separate the path parts, and use zips or sits to compress. They do not need to be self-extracting. Most of us use MacConverter (which functions as a decoder, too) and MacInstaller to get our files into place within Poser. Stuffit will zip and stuff (and open such files) and the basic app is free for both PCs and Macs. For encoding, rte has been a problem for PC users, but that may be solved now. Depending upon what parts of another company's mesh are used, there are ways to ensure that the consumer has the required file(s) so that copyright can be preserved. Carolly

I have a friend that's been doing poser for a while and she has a lot of characters she's created. She's thought about putting a few up to be available here on renderosity but she's not sure what all she has to do in order to do that. She's read that she can't distribute the .cr2 file because that's against copyright. What files does she need to include for the character and how can she package them to sell? Should they just be zipped up into a .zip file or do they need to be put into a self extracting .exe file? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
