Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
Which OS are you using? You say the library files are showing up as text files. If you mean the file type as seen in the Windows Properties box is 'Text Document' then that's wrong. The file types should be listed as "RSR File", "CR2 File", "PP2 File" etc. There may be a file association error. It sounds to me like there has been a fault in the Poser 4 instalation, I sugest that an uninstall/reinstall may be the best way to proceed.
I'm using XP Pro, and I just tried doing this again by adding a converted character to Runtime, instead of trying to replace the Runtime folder, si I imagine that you're right about the issue being an installation issue. In the event that this IS a file association error, how does one correct that? And thanks, BTW. Appreciate the help.

Finally, after several years of foot dragging, Im migrating to a PC from a Mac for a myriad of reasons, none of which are the focus of this thread. Ive installed Poser 4 with both upgrades recommended by CL, and Ive dragged over an inordinately large Runtime folder (50 gigs) into the Poser 4 folder. The files within have all been translated to PC format using Mac Converter. I can open each folder and see the files with. So far, so good. Now when I open Poser on the PC, the library categories show up, but within those categories, nothing appears. For example, under charactersanimals, none of the animal characters appear in Poser. On the desktop, however, theyre showing up as text files WITH the .cr2 extension visible: For example, I have Tiger (the rsr file) and(Tiger.cr2 in the Animals folder. Anyone have any ideas on whats causing this, and if so, what the fix is?
