Subject: Has anyone bought the SUV from DAZ and tried it in Vue?

It's a fairly new model in DAZ store. When I brought it into Vue, everything had high reflectivity. Normally I've found models are pretty right when I bring them into vue (apart from vue crashing as soon as I try to move them too fast of course) but this new model is so shiny it looks like glass. Even the tires were shiny. It has multiple different materials when I go to the material editor. It's hard to know what ones to change and how much. It's turning into a real fiddle. Has anyone else got this model and had this problem and if so, how did you overcome them? Love esther

Hmm, I've had that problem myself, but not all the textures of a model. A couple of things, if you open the model in the hierarchy then select each different bit, it should turn red, and sort of allow you to match the textures better. The other thing is try importing as an obj instead of a pz3 and see if that's better, or visa versa.

okay, thanks. (I can see each material in the material editor but there are so many of them and it's going to be hard to see what to set each one's ref;ectivity to.) so hopefully I can import it as an object - I tried as a PZ3 Love esther

In reallity it's very easy to handle. Lets say you have an imported figure or object. In the world Browser click the little "+" sign in front of it. This opens all the details.

Now click to open the MATERIAL SUMMARY (or type F6).

Select one of the materials and watch in the world browser. The part of your figure(object) that is affected by this material will be highlighted. So, no error possible. Just change the material, texture, highlight or whatever for ONLY this component.

You always should import your figures (objects) as Pz3 from Poser, never as OBJ, if you want to keep all the textures correctly placed. What may happen is, that you only get "body" (or the name of the figure, here "Mike") without details in the world browser. In this case, double-click the name, This opens a new window called "Polygon Mesh Option". In there, click SPLIT and you will then get all the detailed components of it. See image 2

Then use the material summaruy as shown above.

Hi, yep I'll do that. Thing is there really are a lot of materials in the SUV, and it would be nice if they were all already set at what they're supposed to be by the model maker. I won't see all the textures in the world browser if the camera angle is wrong, eg the inside of it. Love esther

The camera angle has nothing to do with the mats. If you don't see a material (because it is inside and the the camera aims to the outside) this means that it will not show up in the render. And if you need to see it (the inside) just create new cameras for it:-) Poser mats and Vue mats are not the same. Vue is able to create real metals, Poser needs a reflecting map. See the difference.

But the thing is to see it as a little mat preview isn't the same as seeing how it looks on the actual object. Well I will obviously decrease the reflectivity in every single mat by various amounts purely by guesswork, but I was sort of hoping there would be a global way of fixing this, maybe in poser first before I bring the PZ3 into vue. Maybe it is a reflection map acting up or something. I was wondering if anyone else had bought the same model and tried it in vue. Love esther

I haven't tried the SUV, but I ALWAYS remove all the reflection maps from a model in poser before importing the pz3 into Vue. I found that the reflection maps are almost always overblown. Much easier to remove them all first in poser then add reflections to only the parts I want them on in Vue's material editor. :)
