Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 10 9:07 am)
I also notice that the characters etc come in a compressed mode called --.crz (or .ppz etc). For Casual Don this is 2745 Kbytes. I loaded him and saved him. He saved as a text .cr2 file 14 megabytes long!!!!! Why is it so vast for merely a Casual Man!?!? How can I recompress it to .crz? Since the vastness of the files makes it impossible for me to text edit .CR2 files like I often do in mechanical objects (e.g. to remove joint / twist / smoothscale / taper channels, or to un-hide translate channels), how can I remove channels, or un-hide hidden channels, from within Poser 5?
I have now realized that most of the extra bulk of Poser 5 .CR2 files is caused by the fancy enormous Bryce-type materials system. It would be useful if Poser 5 had an option to run and read and write in Poser 4 materials mode without the fancy extras such as nodes (but ambience maps would be useful).
You do know that you have to change windows screen resolution to 1024x768 to run poser 5? All the poser 5 figures can be made to work in poser 4 if you copy dons geometry to poser 4 and put the cr2 in a character library, you can load him into poser 4, if you then resave the cr2 with the two ticks or double checkmarks then this cr2 shouldn
t have the poser 5 attributes anymore. I haven`t tried this out but theoretically it should work.
Xantor - do you mean that P5's minimum screen size is 1024 x 768? I'm running mine at 1280 x 960 and it's quite happy with that.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
Anthony, they are new figures made for P5.

I have been using Poser from Poser 3 times. I have just installed Poser 5.0.2 281. Queries:- (0) The "stage" that the people etc appear on :: how can I set it to be a desired size by typing in numbers? I have found how to drag its bottom right corner. (1) It is on C:Poser 5 . My Poser 4 is on C:Poser4 . How can I make my Poser 5 also automatically look in my Poser 4's ...Runtime... ? Or must I copy all my Poser 4's ...Runtime... into my Poser 5? If I copy all my Poser 4's ...Runtime... into my Poser 5 including all subfolders, will it damage anything? Or what happens? I want to keep my Poser 4 also because of reports of Poser 5 not handling big scenes that Poser 4 can handle.
