Subject: Creating posable figures help

pstekky ( ) posted Thu, 26 February 2004 at 8:24 PM ยท edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 4:29 PM

I'm sure this is a tired subject, but I didn't see any posts that helped, so here it is...
I downloaded the Rhino demo, so I have 25 saves to figure this out (well, that's per computer, so I have 100 in truth)
My main goal is to create clothing for my (Daz's)gremlins. What resource can you suggest for a person to learn how to create a model from scratch? I'm getting OK with Rhino, so it's not a "how to model" question, but even if it is a simple as 2 sticks attacked to a cube, how to make the sticks "pose". I'm looking for web sites, tutorials, books whatever I can find on the subject.
Thanks for the help,
Rich

Poser 5 uses a Setup Room where you build a bone structure for your object. I don't know much about building an object but I would assume (usually a stupid thing to do) that there is something similar in rhino. You might try FallenCity.net or PhilC's tutorials at http://www.philc.net/tutorialsIndex.htm. Good Luck!

Dr. Geep has a 'robox' tutorial for the basics, beyond that..I haven't ventured..;) do a search here in the forum for it.

WOOT! I have a pose-able box! (grin) OK, Nothing to put out on the market, but I'm getting the hang of the bones and groupings. I have to ask, how many of you that are now submitting models for sale started out with this same creation (or something very similar)? And how long ago was that. Hmmm, Forgive the repeat, but I think this question deserves its own post. Thanks for all the help, and keep the links coming please! In your debt, Rich

I keep threatening to make my Geep poseable, but just never get around to sitting with the tutorial..I may do Tom Servo and Crow, because the only movement is the neck and 'beaks'..good place to start..;)
