Guys, I have a problem with the gymnast product. the rope and the ribbon don't appear when I add them to my scene, it appears in the drop downs and I can see the selected circle in the scene window but no items it's like it can't find the objects or something?

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 1:53 PM

That happens to me too!

Nice image Nanoshi! Thank you for the feedback on the problem with the ribbon and rope. I am going to check into that problem right now. It has not been submitted yet so this is perfectly cool to find problems at this point. The problem you spoke sounds something simple as a spelling error in a cr2 - I was looking at hand guns last night - thinking about Nanoshi's product. There was a handgun that conformed to the figures hand. I think there would be no problem doing this to 3dZone's and my product also. What do you think? Stay tooned for a new package shortly with the problem fixed. thank you marty

Attached Link: Repaired Rope and Ribbon Cr2s

Here is a link to the repaired cr2s. They are all ready set up right folders so all you have to do is copy and paste the runtime folder.

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 4:52 PM

Cool! They work, just one thing, don't conform them! Just assaign them, cause if you try to pose them while they're conformed.....well, it keeps on moving all about the place making it impossible to see what your doing.....

insomniaworks ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 5:01 PM

These props are not for conforming. This is an idea. I havn't done it yet. You have to use the hierachy editor to make a prop move with the hand or hands - look at the usage instructions in the package.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 5:09 PM

This is my first real experience with Easy Posing anything and I have really never used easy pose products before. I have read that there is a tendency for cross talk with these sort of items. Is there any problems due to cross talk or anything else seems excessively wrong. I have noticed in my personal experience while posing the rope that if you adjust the dolls hand while you are posing the rope, it messes up the rope pose and you have to start over. Also, while making the little promotion package shown above that looks like barbie sort of, I found that one the rope and ribbon doing exactly the same pose - as if one was a slave to the other. Are these problems just par for the course for these items? If not, I really don't know how to fix them. thank you marty

compiler ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 5:48 PM

The problem you have is probably due to cross talk between rope and ribbon (I cannot check at the moment since it is really late here, but I'm quite sure of it). It is caused because they both have parts with the same name (bone 1, bone 2, etc...). To fix this, you have to remake the passage of the cr2 through EasyposeUnderground. In the EasyPose window, there is an option thet lets you choose an "anti cross talk suffix" (at the top and right). Chose a different suffix for the ribbon and the rope (say RO1 and RI1) and you're done.

HackWorthless ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 8:34 PM

have you ever talked to maya? the reason i'm asking is that you might want to convince him to you and your crew work on making a maya doll male catsuit if/and when he releases his male version of his doll.

i know he's at the very least pleased that there are some people clothes for maya doll. i'm thinking that having a catsuit ready to go when he's got his guy doll ready to go can only help boost sales for his product.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 9:36 PM

Hi Hack Yes, I have emailed and IMed MayaX many times and I send him to links to all products I put out includeing this one. I have asked him to join us here in this forum also. He rarely writes back though. I have heard that he has difficulty understanding english, but he really seems for the most part to be ignoring me. It would be great if I had a working relationship with him, I tried, but there doesn't seem to be any interest on his part. marty

Thank you for your information on the Easy Pose, Compiler, I will look into working on it tomorrow.

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 10:01 PM

Hey, I have a question... why is it called a "Catsuit" anyways? It's obviously an important piece of clothing because almost every major model has one. Just wondering what the basis of calling a full-body clothing item "Catsuit" is.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Fri, 27 February 2004 at 10:24 PM

file_94540.jpg

hmmmmm, good question Yggdrasil, maybe someone here can answer that question. To me, a cat suit should be a suit with a cat print on it, thus you have seen my version of the cat suit. I have a related question, why don't catsuits ever have feet? Never understood this, thats why I put feet in mine. This picture I have posted is in interest of Nanoshi and Richabri who will be joining us shortly in forum I hope. I am posting these pictures as a reference for the weapons for the Battle Force Senbotsu Package. I am only one person and I can't keep up with the demand of all the modeling so I have asked Richabri help. Thank you marty

SenshiTaurus ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 2:48 AM

Maybe people call it a catsuit because of Catgirl wearing one......you never know.......

The3dZone ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 7:50 AM

Catsuit Word: A catsuit is a skin-tight one-piece garment with sleeves and long legs, and sometimes with feet or gloves, sometimes with a hood. Unlike a unitard, its use rarely involves sports, and it may be made of leather, rubber, PVC, or velour instead of spandex. It is identical to a unitard in construction, but the term 'catsuit' tends to be preferred in fancy-dress costume or erotic contexts. See also unitard bodystocking

it's called a catsuit because females ware them, origianly during S/M party's, thus the name cat-suit.

This is a picture of the US Army's latest assault rifle the XM29 due to be released into service in 2008 if we can design a weapon around this idea and shape a pistol to match that would be cool :) here is a link to the weapon itself for an idea of it's capabilities http://www.atk.com/productsPrecision/descriptions/products/Shoulder-firedWeapons/XM29.htm and another reference url here http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m29-oicw.htm I think it's design is very fururistic and it's capabilities are awesome, a good weapon from the looks of it.

The link to FN Herstal, weapon manufacturer. They desing weapons with a very compact/futuristic look. (not that I support the use of weapons in real life : being a physician, I have seen first hand the effect of these things of destruction. I have also witnessed the psychological effects on people who felt invicible because they had a firearm).

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 10:40 AM

I am with Nanoshi on her selection of weapons and I am glad because I have to give her most control over what is selected. I like the picture she posted also because the guns looks less complex - thus easier to model - but it looks just a little bit whimpy in my opinion. I think it should be a blend of Compilers's reply #372 and her model. We have to keep in mind that the more complex these weapon models are, they more they will add to the cost of the package. I want the cost to be low so the price of the package will still stay low. Although, if I convinced that a higher quality product/more complex product will sell - for a higher price - I may consider this. My target price is $10 in the MP at this time. But, I am already reconsidering that price because Guns are expensive. marty

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 10:56 AM

yeah I'll go with a combination of the XM29 and the FN2000 with a suitable anime look to it etc. and a pistol to match but it's got to be practicle the pistol, the Jakal one although looked menacing is far to long in the barrel to be a practical combat pistol. Something like that would be nice for making anime like trigun, guyver and Outlaw Star though.

Okay, back to the Ribbon and Rope Crosstalk problem. I have opened up the cr2s and objs in WordPad and replaced all the bone_s with new lables. Now the rope names for each joint is called "Section_1 and so on". This applys to internal names also. All the joints in the ribbon are called "Joint_1 and so on" as well as all internal names. I have also set the Crosstalk prefix in on both items differently using the Same QT1 prefix but adding a few more numbers like desribed in the help files. One item still always is a slave to the other one. If I pose the rope, the ribbon does and identical pose. I am going to send this message to Ajax also. marty

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 4:44 PM

I have a problem with the ribbon, not tried the rope yet, but when I pose the ribbon and then move the scene around using the ball the ribbon I posed turns into a spiral. I did parent the ribbon to the hand but I don't see why that should make the ribbon turn into a spiral just by moving the camera view with the ball. Anyone know why this happens?

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 4:57 PM

ok did a couple more test from new and it seems to be random if it does it or not, 2 times I could move the camera view with the ball fine and on last try it did the odd spiral thing again :/

compiler ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 5:23 PM

file_94543.jpg

I tried to reproduce the problem, but everything is OK with the ribbon and ball. The ribbon could use some additional controls, though (Spirals, etc...). I have made a texture for it based on the French gymnastics team's leotard.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 6:48 PM

I have found that it is tricky to use myself in some ways. One being the spiral effect when I adjust move the hand of my person. I think these things are just weird effects easy pose and you have to learn to work with them. I now save my pose often while making the pose and after so I can always restore it with the pose incase it does something like Nanoshi desribed.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 6:56 PM

Thats a great Texture Compiler!

-Yggdrasil- ( ) posted Sat, 28 February 2004 at 10:41 PM

You know, I was thinking earlier back to that gun thing. One of the reasons I heard Maya put out the Anime Doll was because the Maya Doll wasn't quite capable of toon rendering. Apparently something to do with the outlines not showing up in the right places and such. I may be completely off-base on this, but if you can keep that in mind when designing the guns so that they can be "anime-tized" as well as 3D models, that would be very helpful. As for the pose problem, I will have to power up the package and try out what you all did. Been working on a long-overdue character as of late, my complete source of inspiration, the source of where I got the screen name from, a true Goddess among Goddesses...

Here is the rifle scaled down more to proper size I guess. I put it in cartoon with lines and did a screen capture to show what it would look like. I don't know how to do tune renders. Can someone help. marty

looks like the US Army's new M8. very nice.

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sun, 29 February 2004 at 7:36 AM

Looks good Insomnia :) and cartoon mode with lines is fine thats basically what ya start with on a cell shading. if it looks good in that it will be fine, and it looks great :)

Nanoshi ( ) posted Sun, 29 February 2004 at 7:43 AM

more I look at the gun the more I like it, don't think it needs much more work to it, it is for anime doll afterall and like yggdrasil said it's gotta look good in toon mode too. we could prolly texture it for detail in normal mode and leave it as is for toon renders. in Toon renders I would draw on and extra detail I may want added anyway, I prefer the model to have crisp lines than dotted lines which ya get with more detailed models. On the Swat Officer I did I had to almost compleatly redraw the M16 as it was so badly dotted it was hard to make it out. 'dotted' is what i call it when the model is too detailed for a cartoon render and the black lines distort into many small coloured dots that not only break the shap up but also bleed into the nearby colours too, which results in a lot of postwork redrawing the lines and recolouring.

insomniaworks ( ) posted Sun, 29 February 2004 at 9:37 AM

Yes, its based on the XM8 that is a possible replacement for the M16 - I just found a couple pictures of it last night and I felt right away that this was the gun! I am not trying to be exact because for one thing, I don't have enough reference pictures to draw infomation from. And the other thing I am not trying to make this a $20 gun. I will put up some more pictures as the gun developes. I like this gun becaue it reminds me of a gunship helocopter with out the rotors or the cockpit of a fighter jet. marty

By the way, is anyone going to model gymnastic half-shoes ? (for classical gym, they go barefooted, but for rythmic gym, they have something to protect their toes, connected to their ankles by 2 strings/rubans).
