Don't boil it, the tender bones could melt by... if it helps, I can suggest you putting it into the oven to bake... but I think Daddy wouldn't very happy about the idea... make him outside of home first :-) Then I suggest making some moves to preserve bones from crushing (something like putting them into a "limy solution" -- hell knows what it is, something that my translator gave me), but you better ask about it in your biology class :-) I can't wait to see this bone pictures! Good luck!
Yeah I don't think Daddy would be to happy either :~) ... I'm really not much into picking a dead creatures innards apart or having to clean away the mess.... so I think I'll just follow MGD's advice and let mother nature and the maggots do their job... :~) Limy solution? Must be talking about lime.... not sure exactly how it works, but I think it speeds up the decomposition process.... Cynlee.... funny cause I was wondering if there might be anyone selling animal bones on ebay.... I love skulls! And would love to start a collection. I would gladly buy them from you.... seriously.

If it's quicklime, it would dessicate the ... umm ... sample and prevent the decomposition. After all, that is how lutefisk is preserved. I recall a discussion on the SCA cooks list about lutefisk ... someone asked if all of the sauces for lutefisk were white ... someone else replied, "You eat lutefisk? I thought it was the manhood test." Oh well, food for thought, I guess. Thanks for the link Dave..... beautiful work in there! @ MGD .... Ewwwwwww!!!! Ketchup on a KitKat Bar?! Now that's a sin!

I have also heard a story about a mole. It was a Saturday ... a cocktail party was planned for the afternoon. As the lawn mowing completed, the man of the house observed a dead mole -- probably killed by the mower. He thought about doing a taxidermy project and put it into the refrigerator for now. Later, with the party in full swing and drinks freely available, his wife went into the kitchen to get the second batch of appetizers. There was a loud shriek and he went to the kitchen to see what was wrong. His wife vigorously objected to the mole crawling through the aspic. Seems the mole was not dead, merely stunned. (memories of Monty Python)
