Subject: C4D object to bryce

Anyone know how to import a C4D object ive modeled into Bryce? I try wavefont .obj's but those come in real tiny and nothing I can do to them. Does anyone have a working method?

i don't think native c4d files can be imported directly. you can always export them as 3ds or obj's. if they're tiny, just make them bigger :)

Define tiny? (you can always resize them easily after bringing them into Bryce) AS

Heh, yea I resize them, and then I cant find them. They import in and look like a flake of dust is on my screen, and when I resize them to like 8000+ I just dont see them anywhere.

LOL, you're probably stuck in the inside somewhere. Have you tried biting the bullet and testing size after size, scaling by 100%, 500%, 1000%, 2000% etc., and seeing at what stage it ceases to be a flake of dust? 8000% seems an awful lot to be scaling something up, but then I don't know anything about C4D.....

8,000?! That's FAR too big in Bryce, you can't see it probably because at that size the camera is inside it. Try something under 150 Bryce units to start with. (that's 150.00) AS

you can't import the native c4d format directly into bryce, and vice versa. bryce whet my appetite for the world of 3d so i have recently purchased c4d for modelling - i have found that exporting an object from c4d as an obj file without any scale adjustment works best - the scale seems to become irrelavent when importing it into bryce. something you could try is, immediately upon importing a c4d obj file into bryce click on the attribute tag, check the size and then use that to adjust it to a more appropriately sized object. 3ds files from c4d also work but they don't keep their groups as well - tending to split into a long list of components instead. hope that's of some assistance djzer0 brodiss

Did you use hypernurbs on the models? The models ive imported so far(.3ds), where hypernurbs have been used, looks like that "dust" youre talking about. Unfortunatly i doubt resizing will help. Only good old place-render-change-place-render-etc... But i can be wrong about this though... :)

I have my C4D set for wavefront export scale of 100. Will give this a check when i get home tonight and post more details then.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Do you have Cinema 4d or did you just download an object file off the web? Deep Exploration will let you open dozens of 3d formats and save to something that Bryce can read like 3ds. It's $299 to buy. They have a 30day trial you can download from the website. It will keep track of the installation date and shut down 30 days later regardless of weather you use it or not.
