Subject: Issues with loading a 2nd figure

beonalert ( ) posted Fri, 05 March 2004 at 8:22 PM · edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 3:09 PM

I am having an odd problem when I load a 2nd figure into my project. The first thing I noticed was that the eyeballs on the 2nd figure were "bulging" out and I had to adjust them on the z axis. Then today, I modified V3 with all the male/masculine morphs and saved the figure. When I loaded the figure into a scene that already contained a figure, not only where the eyes bulging again (creepy), but none of the morphs were in effect even though all the dials were there and were set properly. When I cleared the project and loaded the problem figure FIRST, it showed up correctly. This has happened only with V3 characters that I have altered myself, but not with characters I have purchased. Is this a memory issue? I am running P4 on a Mac. Any thoughts? Thanks!

It sounds like cross talk, if both figures are v3 then the morphs from one appear on the other one.

There are dummy figure files for other characters that can fix the cross talk problem, though I don`t know if anyone has made one for v3...

Bloodsong has a universal (biped) null at www.3dmenagerie.com (in Downloads) and Rob Whizant has a Millennium null at www.rbtwhiz.com (click Downloads, first dot to right of the digital-readout thingie, then the link is bottom right of the main window).

Sometimes it helps to load a posette or to click on a clothing before loading the second model. Or its just luck, like with Null.

Thanks all. Someone had mentioned exporting one of the figures as a wave.obj and then reimporting it. This would not only help with crosstalk, but it helps on saving memory. I tried it, and it worked except for the the hair and the transmaps came out all funky.

I try till it works by chance. But sometimes a non-crosstalk-*.pz3 changes into a crosstalking one after reloading.

I'm not sure where the relevant readme went, but I think in order to save and reopen cleanly you need to load a null first and then a null between each figure - works, anyway.

OK, I was hoping I wouldn't have to ask but....what is a null? I mean, I know what null is.....it's nothing. But in Poser terms, what is it?

MrDeltoid ( ) posted Tue, 09 March 2004 at 5:34 PM

Its something like an invisible Vicki. I got it from Daz and its called 'Millennium Null', it still should be there and its free. You put it into the library like a real model. Then you load it like a real model and activate a special bodypart 'Body:1'. Its supposed to distract the crossing-informations to itself so the second Vic should come like you made her. Maybe Im using it in the wrong way, with V3 it never worked for me. Ill try it like RHaseltine said, till now I loaded the first Vic, then Null and then the second Vic.

I'm having the same problem. When I load 2 Vickys into a scene they both take the same body shape. I've tried downloading the null and putting it into the scene first and then sandwiching it in between each load but it doesn't help.

The null solved my problem from the original post. Are you selecting "BODY" on the Null object before loading your Vicky figure? I am using V3 so maybe there is a different issue with V2.
