I've got two phototextures I've been trying to add together in Bryce and to some extent it's working but the color seems to be fading with altitude and I can't figure out why. Here's a pic of the applied material and my settings, so if anyone can see where the problem might be please let me know. Cheers 8) Catlin

hmm... have you tried doing it in pre-work? as in matching them together and then loading the new one in bryce? m

Catlin, when you use "Mode AB" (ie, textures in A and B), the two textures are blened together basd on altitude. Tex A appears at the top, tex B at the bottom - just like you have there. This behaviour is built into Bryce, and I don't know how to change it (at least, not in .1, which is what I have - maybe there are methods in later releases). Try using "ABC" mode. In that mode, A and B are blended based on the alpha channel of C. So all you need for C is a simple mid-grey pic, and you should get even blend all the way.. (btw - I don't know how things combine in "ABCD" mode - it's not covered in my manual..) Cheers, Diolma

You are doing an AB blend which blends the 2 textures as altitude goes up but is based on the tallest object in the scene. To fix it try adding a C channel with the alpha all mid range grey (128,128,128) and it should blend evenly. With ABC blend the alpha channel of C etermines how textures A and B are blended.

oops. "blened" = "blended"; ".1" = "3.1". (I was typing 1-handed with manual open on my knee. My excuse and I'm sticking to it.) ;-)

Cross-post!

LOL cross posted with diolma as I was checking out that a grey alpha would work :)

Thanks guys I knew it had to be something simple. This is the first time I've had this problem even though I've mixed pics before, but I have not written down my settings from previous attempts which is why I got this problem. I've now re-downloaded Zhann's work sheets to keep a record so I won't forget in future. Cheers 8) Catlin

Just blend them in PSP or simmilar, then you've halved your work from the start.

jedswindells I did that too but it's always much simpler if you can get it to work in Bryce 'cos then you can continue changing the results. 8) Catlin
