Hi everyone! Could anyone tell me please if I'm missing something basic when using a blue background in my Poser images so that I can add another background in Photoshop. I am having trouble with the blue (or green) showing through the hair or things like transparent fairy wings, and when I use the magic wand to select the blue, it doesn't select the blue in these areas or if it does and I delete it, I get all kinds of jaggies and holes. Does this make sense? :) I'm setting my magic wand at 30 or 40 tolerance and turning off anti aliasing. I'm also using a brilliant blue or green like I've read I should use. You would be better off rendering the Poser scene as a tif files. You can, using channels in Photoshop, get a clean transparency.

Correct. Saving as tif, psd, and png automatically saves an alpha channel. With your pic in Photoshop, open the channels palette and ctrl-click on the last one (the alpha channel). I don't remember now, but you might have to invert the selection (ctrl-shift-i) to select the background. Also, make sure you render with anti-aliasing ON in Poser. This will greatly reduce jaggies.

Shelly,you'll never get it right useing the magic wand,but useing the alpha channel will give you perfect results. Doing this the background color doesn't make a different (I always use black for my background color). Follow this link to a thread in the Photoshop forum,and scroll down to my post,where I gave a step by step,to what you want to do. It's VERY easy to do...take you all of 15 sec. to get a perfect cutout. Hope this helps,SWAMP
