I'm only martian_manhunter here. At other sites I'm singing_brakeman, RidingTheDragon, dragonrider and right now at daz I just changed my handle from "RidingTheDragon" to "Osho Sannyasin".

some of us change our handles for various reasons..I can think of a couple in the OT forum who have done so..I changed mine, because after a year, I'd passed my 'freshness' date for nu-be..;) dbmale was for another, uh, 'frank chat' site..leave it at that..;)
the number 47, btw, crops up all the time in Star Trek, and there's even a page or two devoted to it..;)

Xenophon was an ancient Greek military general-hero/philosopher/historian. To discuss his entire life and times would go well beyond the scope of this forum.
Here is a brief synopsis:
*Xenophon, 431-350 BCE, Athenian historian.
Xenophon served as a young man in the cavalry in the war between Athens and Sparta, after which he became a student of Socrates. Distrustful of democracy (a feeling later exacerbated after Socrates' death), he left Athens when democracy was reestablished in 410 BCE. For some years he served as a mercenary under the Persian prince Cyrus, leading a force of Greeks known as the Ten Thousand in wars in the Near East, which he described in his Anabasis. Later he served the Spartan king Agesilaus II, at witnessed the Battle of Coronea at which Sparta destroyed his native city of Athens. For his service to the enemy, Athens banished Xenophon from the city. The banishment was revoked when Athens and Sparta united against the common Theban enemy in 365 BCE, and Xenophon returned to Athens where he spent the rest of his life.
In addition to the Anabasis, Xenophon wrote three works in which he defended Socrates (the Apology, the Symposium, and the Memorabilia), and a treatise on the education of a prince called the Cyropaedia.*
I have a deep interest in ancient history.
I am not Greek, nor am I of Greek descent. Nor do I agree with the real Xenophon's thinking on many issues.
I simply like the way that the name sounds.
I initially got my interest in the nick Calypso from the Odyssey, which I had to read in my sophmore year of high school. (the daughter of the Titan Atlas (or Oceanus or Nereus), a nymph of the island of Ogygia who snared Odysseus for 7 years) However Calypso is also a type of orchid or a type of folk song. I love music and flowers. :D And actually I also named my charcoal tabby kitty Lady Calypso Mish-Mish. She;s usually just Calypso unless she's been naughty. ;)

...in my last life I was Florence Nightengale. Just kidding, I was Billy the Kid. Still kidding. I started as PDXJim on an old BBS before the internet was widely availble. Then one day I discovered my membership had run out, and I couldn't get the stupid system to renew my on my old ID, so I created a new ID with a random letter ("s") at the end. I've been pdxjims ever since. When I'm in chat, I almost always get asked if there's two of me. I don't think the world is ready for 2 of me. And Anton is Anton is Anton, in my own little heart.
Here at Renderosity, I am, and have always been lhiannan (That's an "L" not an "I" or a "1"). The Lhiannan Shee (aka leanan sidhe)(lan-an she) is a beautiful vampire fae of Celtic lore. In other realms I was known as Artemis, which is a mythology move from Diana, which is similar to my name Deana (Dee-Anna, not Deena)... But then people started mistaking me for male (thanks to a certain character in a certain RPG series). I've also been Alia (in fact, my website still bears that name), for reasons that need not be discussed here, for it is long ago and far away :D
Well, in the Poser/art community, I've always been elizabyte, a play on my middle name (Elizabeth, obviously). In web design circles, I go by Alicorna, which is the name of my business. Alicorna is Italian for unicorn, with a specifically feminine gender (the masculine would be "alicorno"). And in talker (MUD) communities, I'm generally known as Duchess, uhm.... just because. I think it had something to do with the mad duchess in Alice in Wonderland, and also something to do with the Duchess of York (Fergie), but it's been so many years I honestly can't remember the specifics of why I chose it. And, of course, I do go by my own (first) name, which is Bonni (yes, that's it, yes, that's how it's spelled ;-). I generally sign posts and emails with all lower case letters because that's how I sign my hand-drawn pictures/paintings, and I've done so since about 1978 (long before it was trendy). bonni <-- Like that. ;-)

The only names I ever used and still use: MondoJake mondo_jake ...and mondoxjake here since the site changed my underscore character to 'x' when I signed up 3 or 4 years ago. I find using the same name in different formats a lot easier to really get to know online folks and be recognized at various sites. I am always running into 'friends' using different monikers at obscure sites, but they know who I am right away. Bottom line: There is only one Mondo Jake!
I am, and always have been, Batronyx. My first venture into the online world was on AOL back in '94/'95 (somewhere in there) and I had to choose a screen name. All of the variations on my real name required a number stuck on the end ( yuck! I didn't want to be the 4377th bbowen ). My first cat was a black one named Onyx. Several of my interests seem to be associated with bats ( mostly Batman and various vampires ) so I stuck 'em together. I also liked the way it rhymed with 'electronics', further reflecting my interests in all things technical. I made a logo of sorts you can see on my artist page that further reflects these interests.
I've also had batronyx.com since '96 but don't break your neck to get over there or anything. It's been mostly a vanity thing as it's never been attached to an IP address until this year and I still haven't done much with it, although I have a few plans, including a couple of freebies I've been working on and the requisite gallery. ;)
Sandoppe....everywhere. Well.....except for when I decided to sign into Renderotica to see what it was really like but didn't want anyone to know I was there.....so I used "snoozer"! Muuuuuhahaha!!! The name sandoppe is simply a derivative of my first and last names. Snoozer??? Maybe besides not wanting anyone to know I was at Renderotica, I also wanted them to think I was sleeping when I was there???? :)
hm, I started out as black_canary (like the comic book heroine) and since my real name's mary, that sort of morphed to MaryCanary, as a sig line anyway, so then I signed up a few places as just "canary." Meanwhile I had a yahoo id, chandracrater, taken from some SF stories I was writing at the time. So when poser finished eating every second of the time I used to spend writing, I figured I'd get a new yahoo id that matched up to my forum id's so I wouldn't have to keep explaining why I was chandracrater@yahoo.com! but someone already had "canary@yahoo.com" so I went for canary3d@yahoo.com and registered www.canary3d.com. But I was still black_canary here, which didn't match, so I signed up as canary3d here as well and have used that at other forums since then. Wow, that's a whole saga! A really boring one :) -Mary
At Rosity and most other places I'm CyberscapE. I got this name from an old college radio show in Atlanta,GA. They used to play industrial/goth/synthpop music. I also use this name for my music projects where I create techno/industrial tracks on my computer. And I also use it for DJing in clubs. Other names in the past: fudleybutt (my Dad's name for his dog) ogre69 (the year of my birth combined with the name of the lead singer of Skinny Puppy-a Canadian noise band) Present names elsewhere: spankthegriffen (my handle in some chatrooms) nobody's_drool (a yahoo name) I sign my renders with boReeL, which is a backwards spelling for my childhood nickname - Lee Rob.

...and when the day is dawning...I have to say goodbye...a last look back into...your broken eyes.
I'VE BEEN ANTIOCH EVER SINCE I BECAME MIRED IN THE MIASMA OF 3D. TRIED A FEW OTHERS (ALL TAKEN OF COURSE) SO WHILE I WAS PONDERING THE MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE TO COME UP WITH SOMETHING GOOD SO I COULD GET INTO RENDEROSITY I HAPPENED TO GLANCE AT MY BOOKCASE AND SAW THE SCRIPT FOR MONTY PYTHON'S HOLY GRAIL (BIG FAN) AND WELL THE HOLY HANDGRENADE WASN'T TAKEN. MY ALTER EGO EVER SINCE.
Slikkepinne? Svt sst navn;-) I think I had a cats-something-or-other nick here before spinner. (with a small s) I've been spinner since I first got on the net way back in the dark ages of '92 I sometimes use phrostbyte if I am cruising the forums and just logged in to buy something for my freelance company. ~S
Been Fauve here since 1997. Before that I was Nemo (for Little Nemo, after the Winsor McKay comic strip) but during one of the very early Poser Forum site upgrades my nick somehow got "lost" and I couldn't re-register it, so I switched to Fauve. And Anton, it's still so difficult for me to remember that your nick isn't akisiel any more. :)
