sounds very scammy to me.

ssalter ( ) posted Fri, 19 March 2004 at 8:23 AM

Yeah, sounds suspicious. If he's got the cash, he should pay off his MAXED OUT credit cards and then life would be good for him. ;)

{I took care of the Thanks for the heads up.} Can we keep guessing? I THINK THAT THIS guy WANTED YOU TO SEND HIM a copy of the software. If someone wants to upgrade (and the legally have an older copy), wouldn't it make more sense to go to the company's website and see that kind of deals they offer? And why is he asked if anyone can help... on an image? Wouldn't a posting in the forum be read by more people?

PandaPride ( ) posted Fri, 19 March 2004 at 2:28 PM

well i love my poser, but I can't see not sleeping bc I don't have the upgrades lol sounds a little strange to me. I agree maybe he should pay off that card and then buy his software. Other than that I say, as an adult, get over it. we can't always have what we want when we want it life doesn't work this way! GOod luck to you who ever you are!---Essie

(Assuming he lives in the US), if he has the money then he can simply go somewhere like Rite-Aid and buy one of those prepaid credit/debit cards. They work just like regular credit cards and I've never had any trouble using them to shop online

I use one to pay for eBay purchases, and to order from Daz and Renderosity. I even bought Vue and Rhino from Renderosity with it. It's a Master-Card. It costs $10 to start up and you can put anywhere from $20 to $500 on it. When it's used up you can put more money on it for a $5 fee.

He may just be looking for your email address for spamming purposes. I've had this type of thing happen on a web forum on one of my sites. They'll post something to get you to email them and then use your email to send you tons of spam.....or viruses. I can't imagine anyone would be nuts enough to think you'd help them pirate a copy of Poser and Bryce! But who knows......

Riddokun ( ) posted Sat, 20 March 2004 at 2:44 AM

well i have an old poser 4 bought from a former user at cheap price (else i could not have get it at all at the time) but due to the price of update and complexity of propack or p5 i wouldn't even considering using any of the two above. btw i heard curious lab repacked poser 4 under the name of "poser artist" and that it can be foud at 80$ or something like that (god, it is the price i paid for a used version), but i found no website selling it at such price at all (wanted to make a gift for friend's birthday to corrupt him to posermania and join me). can anyone know at which online store (shippin' europe at least) i can find a correectly priced/or a cheap priced version of Poser artist. asking for a store advice may be against the TOS and like asking for pirated copies, i guess ? i so, sorry, remove the post

yes i have found poser 4 under poser artist on the web for 89$. I was searching one day to see if there were any cheaper prices out there, and that is what I found. I got my poser 5 at Amazon, which costs a little less than at the Curious labs website, but I'm glad that I bought it. Here's the link for the page where I found it before. If this is a no no, go ahead and um tos the post out, I don't mind lol ---Essie
