Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
All DAZ products work in Poser 4 (they don't support Poser 5 - yet) The differences between V2 and V3; V3 uses the "injection morph", which means that, on the negative side, in order to use a morph you have to inject it first, on the plus side, anything you don't want to use you just don't bother to inject (which saves on file size). V3 has a different mesh and different mapping. So textures for V2 won't work on V3) although DAZ has a program for sale (Universal Texture Converter) which does a reasonable job of converting textures either way. V3 is a bit better when it comes to posing - her joints change better in those nasty areas such as back of knees, inside of elbows elbows (and they've done away with upper neck, which I considered superfluous anyway). Personally, if you are happy with V2, I'd say stick with her for the time being; I have both, but mostly use V2, unless I need something that I can only do with V3. Just my 2 cents worth.. Cheers, Diolma
Which reminds me: All of the V3/M3/Steph 3 etc stuff assumes that (if you use "inject all" in the pose directory), that all the poses are in the top-level pose folder. I found this out when I tried to use it after moving all the V3 morph poses down into a (newly created V3 stuff) sub-folder. I hit Inj All and had to wait while P5 looked for the 1st morph, eventually came up w the "can't find" dialogue, then went trolling off for the 2nd morph.. (and there are well over a hundred morphs..) I know that this can be cured (I forget just how) but I just killed Poser and did something else instead.. :-))
I prefer V3 by far. Contrary to what seems to be the popular opinion, I feel she's much more versitile and natural looking. Her joints and morphs allow me much more freedom in posing the figure in "unusual" positions. However, for animation, her mesh is a little too dense, and can slow things up quite a bit when you have all the morphs loaded in. I still use V2 for most of my animation projects. If you have a fast computer with lots of RAM and disk space, and don't mind having to "load" or inject the body and face morphs, then V3 is a superior choice in my opinion. If you create your own textures, then again V3 is the choice because of her superior UV mapping. The downfall is she's a memory hog. But let's not forget Judy Plus by Hmann... he did a great job expanding the morphs of that model, and making her much more useful. ;)

Hi people,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Vicky 2 and Vicky 3. I have V2. Works fine for me. What is better about V3?
(Don't want to spent my money on -eh- lets say, better fingernails. ;-))
I am a beginner. Don't know if it is important, but I have Poser4, and will not buy Poser5 in the near future.
Thanks.
