Subject: I'm Sorry--OT/ Big-I.com

MikeJ ( ) posted Thu, 21 September 2000 at 5:48 AM · edited Tue, 07 January 2025 at 9:39 AM

Hi, What am I doing wrong? When I click on the Vue forum arrow in the left frame, all that happens is the page in the main frame at the right refreshes. I still have not been able to see any of the Vue messages in the forum. The website is really starting to baffle me. Usually I can navigate a site pretty well, but I just don't know what to do at Big-I. I have IE 5.5, with java and all that enabled... I don't know if it matters any, but I do anyway. The closest I've been able to get to seeing Vue letters, is to run a search for things with the word "Vue" in it, but I get some really old messgaes then. It says to click on the arrow to see the options, but, like I said, when I do so, nothing happens. Please someone, Help? Thank you, and I'm sorry for being OT again, but I just didn't know where else to ask this. Cheers, Mike

sorry about that. you should be able to click on each topic to bring it up. the arrows just point to the different headings. anymore problems please email me and I will see that the problems are brought to the attention of the proper people. marge mbolokoski@home.com

heyas; i tried that, too. i THINK those triangle/arrow deals are to open/close the topics. like if you wanted to shorten the list on the left, and you don't have 3ds max, you'd click on the 3dsmax triangle to 'close' that folder. you know, telescope it. there doesn't seem to be a way to jump into a particular forum and see only those messages.

Hello again, Still, I can't seem to get into the Vue forum. :( The triangle/arrow thingies all seem to point to the same thing; when I "view properties"---they link to the forum contents frame, and they do not open up a list of links/options. So, if there doesn't seem to be a way to "jump into" any particular forum, how does one get there? like I said, I can find the Vue forum by running a search for the word "Vue", but I always get sent to the same page, and the messages are rather old. I suppose I would have to be psychic to find the latest thread! LOL I can see in the left hand frame that right now it says that the most recent message to Vue was posted 3 hours ago (as of 8:30 a.m.EDT), so evidently there IS a way to find them and actually post a message. Hell if I know what THAT might be though. Cheers, Mike<<<<still trying!

have you tried clicking on each message to read it? Marge

bloodsong ( ) posted Sun, 24 September 2000 at 12:02 PM

heyas... you don't go INTO the forums. that's the forums there, on the left, listing all the messages in them. you just read the messages from where you are, without going into any other sub-page. (what they're gonna do when they have 50 new messages in each forum each day, i dunno...! :) )

jump up and down with joy and then panic. hahahaha Marge

No, you see, that's the thing--I can't even GET to the new messages. All I CAN get to is the front page. shrug Oh well, at least I can find my way around HERE. But again, like I said everything on the left is just a bunch of pretty text and arrow/triangle thingies. Sure, they make this really cool little clicking sound when I mouse 'em, but I bet they're supposed to do more than that! I have IE 5.5... haven't tried it with Netscape yet, but as far as I know, IE handles more than Netscape, and I have all of everything enabled (even that de-bugging crap...not like I know what to do about it, but...). I'm not worried about malicious java users or anything like that, and I hate to miss out on all the cool stuff, so this is a continuous setting for me. This is the first major, non-personal website that I've found which refuses to do what it says it does. Am I going crazy? Never mind...don't answer that! Cheers, :) Mike

Mike I am going to copy your message and send it to Big-i and see if they can figure this out. There are bugs that seem to be surfacing but they have someone to help sort them out. As for me I am a co-moderator over there at the Vue forum so please let me know any problems you have. Marge

Thanks, Marge---feel free to quote me on anything. I "know" several of the people at Big-I, and I like the site design, and will definitely be happy to be there...once I can figger it out, that is! But, I'm not a troublemaker, and I hope my comments DO turn out to be of some use. :) Cheers, Mike

I sent the whole thread so they could see what is happening to you. I am glad you brought it up, how else do we find out these things :). Marge
